I don't think Obama is exactly like Hitler. I never said I thought they were alike. I don't even associate them in my mind. I was only saying that they both promise(d) this all-powerful change. They both gained a huge following from promising change alone.

thank you. i did like the stuff he says about the economy with the exception of NATO. i still dont like his iraq plan "Obama will immediately begin to remove our troops from Iraq". his immigration plan is hazy but i doubt he does much to stop it because i never hear him talking about it (or anybody still in the race for that matter).

McCain is going to be the exact same as Bush-alliences with oil companies, more crazy conservatives on the supreme court, and 4,000 more american soldiers dead in iraq.

Iraq. I've seen about 3000 posts saying "oh we shouldn't just get up and leave iraq." WHEN WOULD BE A GOOD TIME. The middle east has been on a path for self destruction for thousands of years. it doesnt matter if we leave in 10 minutes or 10 years, its gonna be a disaster when we leave regardless. why not get out now and at least save out soldiers lives, instead of prolonging the inevitable.

The economy. Oh christ the economy. The war may not have "caused the recession, but people are voting for Obama and Hilary for other reasons. They are sick and tired of paying damn near 4 bucks a gallon for gas. They are sick of the government giving contracts to corporations, just so that Cheny can have a few more bucks in his Haliburton fed coffers. For crying out loud we just signed a contract for USAF planes to European company Airbus. Anyone see anything wrong with this? Obama and hilary may not be perfect, but they beat the shit out of the right or wrong my way is the only way republicans.
 
racism and most stereotypes exists for a reason, it may sound mean but its the truth. when people think of a black person they think of some guy wearing gangster clothes and walking around with a gun, rappers, etc. because the majority of black people are like that in some way. not every black person but alot are. i know around here about 1 in every 20 black people doesnt fit that black stereotype.

You do realize that US involvement in Afghanistan has pretty much nothing to do with why Osama Bin Laden hates America, right? Also has nothing to do with why a bunch of Saudis decided to attack us on September 11. And there's really no logical correlation between the Afghan-Soviet war and our occupation of Iraq.

And for the record, Obama is not a real "peace" candidate either. Look at the way he talks about Iran and North Korea, repeatedly referring to them as "enemies." Look what he's said about going back into Iraq a few years down the road if it becomes an Al Quaeda stronghold. Obama is just as likely to send us into another unnecessary war as McCain or Clinton. There is no hope for this election. We are screwed.

In 2000 when bush took office, the average price of gas was $1.50. now is $3.50. You cant tell me george bush and his economic policies had nothing to do with it. He started his own oil company back in the 70's and has invested heavily in them ever since. He's set terrible fuel economy standards which makes even more money for oil companies. Theres a reason that the prince of saudi arabia is nicknamed Prince Bandar Bush.

Obama is nothing but an illusion created by a genius campaigner. He won't explain himself on many issues and just uses glittering generalizations like "change" to boost his campaign. We all want change but if all these stupid kids who think hes the greatest thing ever looked into the change he is calling for they would realize that they don't agree with him. All these dumb ass kids at my school like obama(nothing wrong with liking him) so I ask them why they like them. They say he is for change. I ask what change and they don't even know what the mother fucker stands for. Most of the kids at my school should probably be praying that Mccain gets elected so their parents taxes don't get so high.

And what exactly are they spending it on? Sure it may come out of taxes, or other stores of money, but they have to BUY GOODS with this money. That's what boosts the economy. War = huge influx of money into the economy. The gov't starts spending massive amounts of money which in turn boosts the economy.
 
not true. the president can accept reelection contributions and then do whatever he wants with the money. He can also own stock and collect royalties (in bush's case oil investments).

Bush actually puts around 1 million in his personal bank account every year (before taxes, yes the president pays taxes)
 
All things considered, I'm not too pissed about the Pres netting 1 mil a year. That's chump change to the corporation heads and lobbyists that are really putting pressures on the government.
 
i dont think obama is racist. i think he made a big mistake by saying that, and im sure he thinks so too, but i also think it is very difficult to avoid slips of what society has engrained into our minds about stereotypes, i also think he wasnt saying it out of hate or equating "typical white" behavior as something to be erradicated, and isnt hate the reason racism is bad in the first place? i think hes a good guy, and if you vote republican just to spite the opposing candidate, then you, sir, are whats wrong with america today.
 
its not being spent on buying goods or any crap like that. this is not like WWII where the government ordered billions of dollars worth of military equipment and the whole country became mobilized towards the war effort. We already had a huge military force in terms of equipment and machinery going into Iraq. These billions of dollars are being spent on just the general military expenses. that does not help our economy, in earlier times the factory workers were working long hours and making much more money than before, all that money was getting circulated back into our economy. the american public is not seeing a cent of the money that gets spent in Iraq today. There is a limit to deficit spending and Bush has already gone way past that. we no longer manufacture anything in our country and we are in debt billions if not trillions of dollars to china. This is totally different to a typical wartime scenario
 
OK...how about Hillary saying multiple times she was getting shot at when she got off the plane in Bosnia, when we have videos or children greeting her and her daughter in peace as she gets off the plane....stupid bitch
 
I realize that there are alot of differences. However, that is unavoidable with the stage of globalization that we are currently residing in. While the military may not necessarily be buying straight from American factories, it comes back to us in other ways.
 
what benefits are we reaping every day from the war in Iraq? Rising gas prices, rising food prices, rising everything prices? Or maybe its the fact that the terrorists are still out there, even though that was the driving force behind entering Iraq in the first place.

i guess they were banking on oil revenues but that never really panned out and their sinking in way more money and none of the oil rigs in iraq are generating any profit, which may be a bit of a factor for the rise in gasoline but i'm no expert.

Alot of that is due to inflation and poor investing. One of the leading causes for an increase in food prices is because the price of wheat/grains and corn has gone up so much. This is mostly due to the demand of ethanol coupled with poor harvests in 2007. As for outsourcing and buying shit from other countries, that may look like it hurts us, but in reality there is positives to it too. It leaves companies with more money and resources to spend towards innovation and increasing their profits, all which benefits our economy. I can't explain it all, but you should consider reading "The World is Flat" by Friedmann. It's a pretty entertaining book. It doesn't exactly go into the war, but it has alot to do with how things changed after 9/11, what globalization is doing around the world right now, so on and so forth.
