How do you wear your helmet if you wear one

I have a giro bad lt. and I wear my googles underneath cuz otherwise it looks crappy for once and it feels weird cuz the googles dont really sit good ontop of the helmet..dont know how else to put it...

i have a 9mx audio, and the tune ups suck, so i sold them. i usually use no earpads when its nice, or i make headband type earflaps that i stick in with the padding velcro. works like a charm, and its super warm. goggles over, of course.

i put on my cheap fitted hat on my head covering the tippy tops of my ears

then put on my helmet then i put on my goggles over the helmet

in order from first to put on my head to last....

beanie

gogs

helmet. ----sometime no helmet.

i wear my helmet on the back of my head, and my gogles over my upper lip so there is atleast 6" of joey gap, and i'll make sure to build up some frost on the fore dome, then i'll prolly atach some type of streamer to the back of my helmet to give me that cool look, Oh! and don't forget to make sure everything is off center, that's super radical!

so you're saying your helmet is pretty much useless then. all giro helmets are single impact.

if i do wear my helmet i wear a bandana underneath and goggs always over

Well.. amongst other things, you said

"And it all fits nice and snug. And for those of you who think its unsafe to wear stuff under the helmet i disagree because many times have I fallen and this helmet has protected my head amazingly."

Your Giro S4 helmet, (as with all other giros) is a single impact helmet - designed to take one major impact.. So if the helmet undertakes a decent impact, it is essentially rendered useless and it is time to buy another one.

Therefore your helmet is pointless.

Maybe you should stop and think about that for a second.

Here's a little experiment for you to try- First find a helmet that someone was wearing during a crash, put it on, and have someone smack a beer bottle into the side of your head. Then try it with no helmet at all. According to your comment, you should feel no difference at all, since the helmet that took a crash is now "useless".

Yes, most ski helmets are "single impact". Because generally a good impact will crush, crack, or otherwise comprimise the integrity of the foam (usually in a specific spot). And then it will not be as strong as when it was new, and yes, it would be nice to replace it with a shiny brand new one.

But to say that it is "useless" or "pointless" now? Do you really believe that because it's taken an impact, it will now do absolutely nothing?

Are you saying that if you were to take an impact to the head, you might as well not wear a helmet that has taken a crash before, because now all of that foam and plastic that surrounds your head no longer obeys the laws of physics, and it will feel just like hitting your bare skull on ice?

Don't take this the wrong way, it is a great idea to replace your helmet after a big hit, especially if the foam is cracked.

But give the guy a break, it is certainly not "useless" to wear a helmet that has taken a hit, when compared to no helmet. In fact even wearing a helmet that is fully cracked through in 5 places is still going to protect your head about 500% more than no helmet at all, it just won't be as good as a new one (not a good idea, just making the point).

Listen to the laws of physics, instead of the manufacturers who would like you to buy 10 helmets per season. Inspect your helmet after a big crash, and replace it if anything is cracked or feels "soft".

I'l have to try that. I have the same helmet with fuse goggles and the helmet tends to move a bit... Anyways, response to topic... Umm, helmet with nothing under, goggles under the brim of the helmet... umm, on my face?

i started wearing my helmet backwards because it provides more forhead coverage, and i usually just put my googles the right way on my helmet which is the wrong way since my helmet is backwards....im tryin to start a trend

Oh I see, but all I said was "I have fallen many times and this helmet has protected my head amazingly". Notice how I only told you that I have "fallen many times". I never told I have undergone any major impacts...because I havent. So let me clear things up by saying I have never hit my head hard enough to have a major impact, so therefore my helmet is very useful.

earflaps off, hat underneath, and goggles sagged low underneath, and then the helmet over. And yes it does help protect me still, probably more with the hat....

take all the extra pads off the helmet, wear a beanie, and put the goggles under, then sag the goggle down... It's the mammoth way biotch!!

same here, might where a fitted hat uderneath sometimes cause it looks ok, but yeah the way its supposed to be..

i wear a beanie under because i lost the removable ear flap things on my helmet, so i need to keep my ears warm

Blaze orange hat, then nice Scott helmet over it, with goggles over helmet. the helmet fits me, but its a tad bit deep, so the hat makes up for it

i take a t-shirt, and tie it into a bandana on my head with the back hanging out, then i put my gogs on, then my helmet goes on over all that.

the only way to go is a giro 9, take the paddin out, with toque underneath.

goggles overtop if you're goin big, goggies underneath if you're just cruisin
