i sorta butter when i hit jumps switch but it's scary cuz i have about 15% chance of catchinh me edge right at the lip. just wondering who else butters off lips switch.

i also find myself doing this a lot going forward but i have yet to catch an edge.

you should practice not buttering off the lip.

if you try that on a warm day you'll catch your edge on the lip and die

i know this. the only time i don't butter is on zero spins & 180s... anything past that i have to butter.

going towards the jump, put your feet kinda close together. keep your bases flat on the snow. approaching the jump, keep looking at the lip. spread your legs to around shoulder width apart (little less) and start getting on your inside edges as you carve off the jump. start the spin as soon as your heels clear off the lip.

Just imagine in your mind that you're leaning back on your tails. I tend to find myself doing the butter thing sometimes, and for some reason, imagining myself leaning a little more back on my tails solves it. I usually catch my tips when I spin switch, and this helps that a lot.

damn this dudes shit is on lock! never thought of that.

well now for real real not for play play. try the staggering of the stance... it helps a ton to be able to look over your shoulder.

yah make sure to carve so you catch an edge less and the stagering thing works well for that.

be like totally set up and ready to spin before you reach the lip, but wait till you know your in the air before spinning. think about popping and leaving the lip before you think about spinning.

so would u say the more u lean on ur edges going in the switch the better chance of u have of getting off axis?

just do zero spins over smallih jumps untill you are comfortable with it and then do the same thing and spin a 1870. It'll teach you not to butter off

yah you just have to make sure you're on your inside edges when you start your spin. it dosen't have to be a hardcore carve, but just don't have your bases flat or else you'll catch an edge. now for getting corked, then you'd want to carve alot off the lip.

hahahahahaha

and I suck at hitting tables switch. Cat tracks and natural features are no problem for me but tables are hard beause I have to take of switch going downhill, instead of traversing. This is because I live in alaska and 99% of our jumps take off in a traverse direction.

last time I tried to hit a table switch as at Northstar and I caught my inside left edge, turned sideways, went uspide-down and landed in the flats on my head and broke my collarbone. So now Im kinda scared of switch table hits. I switch cork 5'd in a practice run but I buttered it and a bunch of kids said I almost died cause it looked like my edges were gonna catch so I have no idea how to hit jumps switch i suck poopy.

ok dick i wasn't asking how to jump switch i can do this already. i was simply asking who else butters off jumps.
