How do you study?

I'm bored studying...so I thought I'd find out how NS studies!

Personally, I have to be listening to music, though if it is perfectly quiet I can do it that way too, never happens in the dorms though. Sometimes I drink a beer to relax me too haha.

Currently, listening to classical music and drinking a brew as I study for my calc 4 exam this week. I had the idea to try classical music for the first time the other day, so key.
 
for me studying is really just an issue of motivation. i'm still in high school but i need to be under some sort of pressure in order to keep myself focused. Like blowing off an entire chapter of AP U.S. until the night before a test, that's when i study the best. ha not the most responsible, but i feel like i can get more work done when i really need to.
 
Yeah. I do the same thing,

but most times i smoke a bowl before righting a paper and i just end up getting distracted or too sleepy
 
word^. on the rare occasions when i do study (i should be right now, french exam tomorrow ahhh), i have to be in a really quiet place or listening to classical music to block out people talking.

ritalin helps, too haha
 
it's sunday night, 23:30, and im at school with some friends studying for our midterm exam that we have this week and at the same time we have to do a shit load of work and project... engineering school sucks...
 
I am the same way, I only really perform under pressure. Like if I do not study for a test and think that I am gonna get raped, I usually do mediocre(sp)
 
i take off my pants, turn on some bluegrass, and stare blankly at my notes. My GPA proves that this is a good way to study.
 
well i get those plastic thing that you can put whole pieces of paper in put my notes in there and study in the shower i think best in there
 
i don't study...

but as far as work goes, the only way i can get it done is if it is due the next day. anytime before that and i can't concentrate and get distracted.
 
depends on what I'm doing. If I'm doing some coding or somethin I'll just sit on the couch with my wireless keyboard and mouse typing away. If its reading or a paper I'll usually do it in bed.
 
if teachers realllly wanted us to learn, they'd come on NS and make threads about thier subjects.
 
I can't study at home, I have to go to campus. But usually I use an empty class room. Lots of room for books, power outlet right there, chalkboard/whiteboard for problems.
 
depends what im studying for. Most of the time i just procrastinate, and just kind of touch up on things maybe up to 2 days in advance of tests and shit. Some classes I'll work in a big library hall or something, other times ill just work computer side with music or a movie on.

If I'm doing arch stuff, I just work at my table allllll the time with music going (usually enya or something) and food nearby
 
im pretty bad when it comes to studying i can never concentrate but when it comes to writing papers and whatnot i just wait to that last possible second and then crank it out fast that way i spend the least amount of time possible and they usually turn out good since im putting all my concentration and effort into it. just like right now. 3 pager due at 8am. its 4 am. havent started.
 
Studying obviously depends on the subject ....

Engineering/Math/Physics/Chemistry (The Smartest) - Practice Problems, remember concepts

Biology/History - Memorization, use flash cards

Business - common sense, drink Maker's Mark

Architecture - brute force and hard work

English - a brain

Agriculture - suck a cow dick
 
I put any type of music on except for like hard rock or something, and then I just look over my notes, trying to memorize things. This is usually the night before right before I go to sleep. Multiple studies show the best time to study for anything is right before bed. (It's true, I read it...)
 
I take a piece of paper and just write out everything I know. I need to write things down to help me remember
