How do you ski backwards

lol to be honest, i can ski switch, but i cant really figure out explaining how to do it..

maybe cause im a noob..

but yeah just mess around with different weight distributions on your skis, then youll figure out which way your most comfortable riding switch on.

if that helps.. ?

you just go for it on a nice flat area. Find which shoulder your more comfortable looking over and go for it. Make sure you get your switch pizza's down.

the way my pops explaned it to me is;

"its just like regular turns, but backasswards, if your gonna turn left do a regular right hand turn"

i have dopeass left backwards carves, but my right hand turns are pretty gross, theyre all slidy with no edge grip.

lean upill to get faux shovel pressure

and get twin tips haha

no because it looks stupid having a wide stance, can you imagine everyone skiing normaly forward with a really wide stance???

ok so since every ones beatin around the bush... heres how to ski switch.

as stated above stagering your feet is key. for a left turn you want to drop your right foot so your right toes are inline with your left heel. you can then look over your right shoulder way easier. then switch and stager your left foot back and look over your left shoulder for a right turn.

basicaly whrn you stager your feet it unlocks your hips allowing you to turn and look back hella easier.

so yeah thats how you ski switch.

nah most ski patrol just have built in newschool meters that tell them to stop anyone from doing anything but slowly skiing forwards with both your feet on the ground.

There's a pretty pitiful video of Kristi Leskinen explaining it floating around somewhere out there, I'm sure someone knows where it is

the way i was taught... which works for me...is pretty easy...

if you want make a left turn, look over your left shoulder and point your left hand where you want to go.... and your skiis will automaticly do the right thing.... do the same thing with your right shoulder and right had for right turns....

easiest method out there

Just do a reverse pizza until u are comfortabel with going backwards straight

turning is another thing. Practice turning by going backwards and turning sideways and almost stopping but do not stop all the way and ui will get better and better every time

soon u'll be able to go down entire trails backwardsi did about 2 miles backwards in Stowe

Turn around and go, I've only skied like 2 times and even I can do a crazy out of control switch pizza almost into the trees

wat works 4 me is, DONT put ur skis right next to each other, because its incredibly easy to cross them. make ur skis a little wider than ur shoulders, it gives u more balance. if ur confused, just get out there and experiment. u'll get it eventually.

mines pretty wide when im coming into a feature fast, but when im just maching around switch i keep my feet pretty close with a real exaggerated short ski/long ski stance
