Just turn around and ski backwards until you get the hang of it. I actually had a progression where I just snowplowed down, then started stem cristies (paralell across the slopes, snowplow through turns) and now I just carve. It's mad fun.
i dont usually stagger the skis unless im carving. then i switch shoulders to look over when im carving too. when im just going straight switch i look over either shoulder whichever feels more comfortable at the time
if jumping, up to the jump (i spin left) i look over my left shoulder and lead change with my left ski. But when im going up the lip i think my skis become more parallel and my stance gets a git wider. I just learnt switch like half way through the season so im still a tad sketchy.
