I was up there the other day both Pyramid and Chad's are built but the inrun for Chad's needs a few days worth of work to be hittable. People have an ill concept of the inrun. It's not some park it you can just tuck from the top of the trail. You have to be an awesome skier to be able to carry speed through that whole inrun, it goes across ridges, through trees, nasty hills and compressions. And yeah grizzly gulch is a notorious slidepath you can hike the ridge to the left of it but even that doesnt guarntee you anything. I wouldn't go up there with you and a few friends if you're from outa town, don't know the area and don't know anything about avy's.

I was up at chads with my homies, and a pose of eastcoast kids beat the fuck out of me and hit chads. This creedman isa psycho. He tied me to a tree and kicked me in the balls until I cried like the pussy I am. Then he hit the gap. Only he did a sprinkler overchadswhile I was under it. For those of you thatdont know what asprinkler is, its a 360 while pissing. But I got them good, I salted the landing and burried some rocks under the snow. No one will be hitting chads without a trip to the ER ever again! MaCkdAwGG for life!

Just to let y'all know...Pat Owen, Andrew Creed, Jack Elliott, and Eric Newman all hit Chad's Gap on Thursday January 13th, 2005. I witnessed everything.

Eric Newman attempted a rodeo.

Jack Elliott did a straight air.

Andrew Creed did 2 straight airs and landed a 360.

Pat Owen did 3 straight airs and landed a front flip.

It took them 3-4 hours to build the jump and the inrun. The inrun is very sketchy and by the time they hit the jump, they were approaching speeds of approx 50 mph. Truly skilled individuals.

Pat Owen cleared it 3/4 times

Andrew Creed cleared it 2/3 times

Eric Newman smashed into the wall once

Jack Elliott smashed into the wall once

I dont know who half of you kids are, but almost all of you are wrong about chads. Here are the pure facts from someone who has hit the jump. Chads is MASSIVE, 120ft long, skiers are at least 40ft off the ground. The inrun is an s shape and is about a 1/4 mile long. It starts at the bottom of a cliff band and is really steep. The jump is usually at least 6ft tall and really should be almost double that. The inrun doesn't go along ridges or over rolls, its pretty straight but you have to haul serious ass down it to clear the jump. I hope all you punks who doubted my buddies and I feel like shit now that you got showed up by some kids on vacation.

bunch of kids were hitting pyramid gap yesterday. I'd never seen it really built before, isn't as big as it looks in the videos. They looked pretty young and were just flinging themselves across it. I bet a lot of people could do it as long as you have the balls to hit it with enough speed. The booter to chad's is getting built as well, but didn't look like it was ready to go yet. Easy to find, just hike up grizzly gulch - chad's is first, pyramid is a little further up.

 
The inrun does go over rolls and along ridges when I was up there, we got about 7 feet of snow since then maybe it filled in a little better but when I was up there it was truely fucked

I am so stoked to see these kids actually came out and did it. Props to them. Especially with all the ridiculous shit-talking leading up to it. Hopefully this will dispell any rumors that might have started from this thread about Utah and territorial bullshit.

I've been here since 89, and I've skied all over the Wasatch, and have never experienced the situations desribed in this thread. Undoubtedly, the majority of people here are super-chill and are stoked to see newcomers attempting big hits and lines. It just keeps the sport moving foward.

And anyone who tells you any different or that they're a 'local', they're not. No true local would have the audacity to call himself such.

We need more kids like these out there who aren't afraid to step it up to the next level. Without them, our sports doomed. Nice work.
