How do you explain color to someone...

So this got me thinking how do you explain color to someone that can't see...

it'd be really hard to explain, but i'd try to describe it by comparing it to the the timbre of musical sound. color does to our eyes what sound does to our ears, in a sense. some colors are cheerful and soothing, others are dark and dreary. we can combine colors just like musicians combine sounds to deliver a certain emotion or create a certain atmosphere. some colors compliment each other, like sounds do, and others really stand out..

i'd probably take it in that direction, rather than trying to explain how light is emitted or reflected from an object at various wavelengths, bla bla blaa

yea i had a discussion about this with my cousin a while ago, we basically decided red and orange are warm like the sun, blue is refreshing and and clear like the sky, etc.

Well, according to Newton if you shine white light through a prism dispersion occurs and different colours are diffracted at different angles because of their various wavelengths. That's just off the top of my head but yeah that's the approach i'd probably take.

its actually light waves AT different frequenices. I am color deficit. I think poeple who are completely color blind just see shapes but at all different shades of a dark color. just guessing tho, even tho you cant see color you can still see shapes and forms? like black and white movies. like you can still see whats going on you just cant tell what color that shit is.
