How do you expect to see the sport of skiing in 2050?

Freestyle Skiing have changed so much in 10 years. Proskiers lunch triple corks and rodeos at this time. Think, dream and imagine what it will be in 50 years, it is completly crazy!

And as always,

Have a nice day.

64XLT jumpsuits and 2000 foot jumps. competitions will be on a quint-cork or get-the-fuck-out-basis.

We will have developed skis that have a base that actually keep you hovering like an inch off the ground while simulating the feeling of pressure on your feet, so you can ski without snow! Marty McFly style.

a retarded amount of technicality for the folks really into it, for the rest of us tricks like the kang flip will be as common as walking your dog in the park, not just skiing but a lot of aspects of life we find magnificent now i feel will be common in the near future

probably $400 lift tickets, $40 cafeteria meals, ultra high speed quads, ultralight skis that never have to be waxed, sharpened and rarely break.

freestyle skiing will begin to decline in after 2018 olympics and be near-dead by 2030, but in 2040 a group of kids will find something new to do on skis and it will be huge again by 2050.

that's my guess. I guess i'll check in 50 years!

considering the amount of snow is rapidly decreasing I imagine that there will be a lot of snow flex places

this but not really, It will not exist but the sport does have an asymptote. The way these guys are spinning, physics and gravity is gonna stop progression at some point. seriously, there is a max. And I just cant see it going bast quad corks. maybe... not to be a bummer or pessimist

are you going to be progressing to that level? is anyone in this thread going to?

no. skiing is fun as shit, it always will be, endo story.

Agreed, I think free skiings community is going to be huge in a few years. And alot of people are going to love sport even more. One thing that will keep growing in this sport is the passion. Every year it seems that there are so many more people wanting to live their life around skiing. its awesome

Skiers will OWN the slopes, and snowboarding will degrade to this, and slowly die...

Ps. I read a cool article about freeskiing killing snowboarding in a freeskier mag, and freeskiing has started to surpass boarding. We will win! I know. Its a cool story right bro?

Snowboarding and skiing will reach an equilibrium. I don't know if it will be 2050, but physics means we can only spin and flip so many times and a jump can only be so big. I think style and technicality will battle it out over the next few years.

lol 2012

if we're getting technical i only log in like once a month because i never shut my laptop down and practically always have internet so i don't get logged off, so its not that steep of a dumb slope but also i forgot to make it clear to all of you that i was joking by using the phrase, "bazinga" so i apologize because it clearly was not shown as to be used so as to be a joke

No one is going to die, it's just gonna be an economical disaster and welfare and EBT cards are going to disappear and those users(low income) are going to be enraged when they get turned down. They will then start to get angry and riot, looting with commence and small militias will be formed to protect supplies. Better start stocking up now.

if the snow stays, then it will just carry on slowly improving. i think more skiers will do their own thing and film long projects. we'll probably see more things like the art of flight. it will become more like skateboarding, new tricks arnt being invented constantly but new flairs and styles are being added, and new ways to do stuff.

If we wont progress into bigger tricks well progress into style, but i think with the olympics coming up skiers are gonna huck crazier shit and obstacles will be getting much bigger(as always).

^This, except the art of flight wasn't even that long of a project, some skate vids can be in the making for like 10 years before being released, I think eventually companies might move away from the annual film release kind of format and do longer projects.

I guess skiing is a hobby/passion people can afford if the country they live in is sustainable enough. Having said that, seeing how globalization is eating us, I doubt much of place available for skiing today will be available in 50 years. But I will be there to see and repost in here!

No that was taken in Peru during the summer, that slope is actually about 85 degrees downward with very light rock cover.

Nothing but irradiated zombies jibbing in a post-apocalyptic war zone. There will be some snowboarders too because they provide no food for zombies.

Yeah for real. Shifting weather patterns will make some areas less popular/vacation destination and others more popular.

Imagine people that normally come out to Tahoe and see Squaw the way it was this Christmas? I bet it makes people want to sell that house and move anywhere else.

The state of the snow conditions will cripple our resorts more than anything. Less revenue, higher ticket prices on the few who still go. In an area like Michigan our winter is more like "the fall that never ends". It is just cold out....the cars get frosty, the snow melts by lunch time. You know the deal.

I await the day resorts attempt cloud seeding techniques that they use in China to try and get rain storms (for drinking water).
