how do you download stuff on mirc ????

well I just got it and I want to know how I can get games and mp3s and stuff from it!

Its not too hard... although most of the stuff on its illigal what what not. just find someone advertising a file server and type in the code thing (probably something like !gamez) and then you will get a box that will pop up about a chat, click chat and it will go into their file server and type dir to get a list of all the folders and then cd(name of folder) to access it. then when you find the file you want type get(file name) and it will send. type cd.. to go back and also if more then 1 person is downloading you will have to wait in line (depending on the persons settings) atleast i think thats all true... its what i remember anyway

yeah the program is mirc... its an internet relay chat and you can connect to different servers. I dont know which ones to use though... i used to use dalnet but i think all the stuff on it got shut down. you have to find someone with a fileserver

 
there is many way to download with mirc

1- the guy send you the files(forget about this one)

2- the guy write the file he have and you just have to write the good sentence with the # of the file

3-fserver-this one is hard to understant, but must of the files are there,first you type !list on the big window then enter a trigger, you will enter the server. to see the file you type 'dir' maybe you will have to type it twice. after you write 'cd' and the directory you want to enter then you type dir again. when you finally find a file you want you type 'get ####.###'

it's a channel but the server(fserver) belong to one person that share his files. there is many server of many different person on each channel.

well I can sorta figure it out but I haven't been able to download anything yet.

when I set up the connection I put fserver but when I try to connect it says 'unable to resolve server'

well, there are two possibilities for the 'unable to resolve address'. a.) it could be that you have an ip mismatch or are behind a firewall or proxy. b.) the person sharing the files could have the problem, which in case there's not much you can do.

So here's one method of fixing it.

1. Go to View > Options (on older versions you'd go to File then options) or hold down ALT and press O.

2. Go To Local Info

3. Erase/delete the information in: Local Host: and Ip address:

4. Make sure that 'on Connect always get:' Local host, ip address', that both checkboxes are indeed checked.

5. Lookup Method: Server. Make sure it's on the 'server' field.

Hope that fixes your problem.. back in the day I used to help run dal.net

well there are servers and channels that have download that I can connect to but when I type what the bots say to type in I have 2 problems. first of all I don't know how to find out what the packet number of whever I want is. the second problem is that sometimes I can see someone else's commant to the bot for a download and when I try to copy that (the packet number that they typed out) it never works either.
