How do you decide which pair of skis to ski on?

are you buying skis or do you want to know how to decide between what ski to use for something specific? This is a really weird question...

I wish the answer was "demo'ing skis", but normally it's just reading a ton of reviews, asking everyone I know, flexing a bunch of pairs, and then buying them blind.

The fuck is thread? If you don't know the difference between ski types and which conditions they are used for, you don't deserve multiple pairs.

pow days - super 7

groomers - head supershapes

moguls - mogul ski

park - rossi scratch

most other days - shreditor 102

I ment if you were going to go ski pow for a day and you owned 2 pairs of pow skis that were almost the same how would you chose between the 2, people seem to think I'm asking how to choose between a park ski and a powder ski haha

I feel like most people dont own more than one pair of skis for a certain type of skiing.

I have some jj's for 99% of my skiing, and a pair of beater park skis for pre-season, and early season as a rock ski

pow skis

day after powday skis (not really necessary)

park skis

touring skis

I am jealous. Just out of curiousity, what are your day after pow day skis?

I ski solely inbounds at hood meadows and bachelor, and i ski solely on 196cm moment governors. In theory they are too big for me and have no place at those mountains, but: they are ALWAYS the biggest pair on the rack.

Bu seriously most people have one pair of pow skis and they use those in pow there's no real point in having multiple... If you got some for cheap from a friend or something decide which you like better and sell the others

All the little 12 year old douchbags that ride shitty LINE skis are jealous. They even hate on girls for no reason at all. Lowlifes.

I try to avoid overlap in my quiver, and make sure that every ski has its place. Here's the thinking I use:

Inbounds:

Kartel 98 with P18s: park and soft conditions with little new snow

hahahaha. Idk how long you guys have been on NS, but like 90% of my posts get downvoted like that. It's honestly nothing new haha

Well I have dollos and ar7s and I just go off what I'm feeling no real thought to it unless I'm feeling like I want to butter more for that day or if it's a snow day

if i lived where it actually snowed, i'd want park skis, all mountain/charging skis, and powder skis.

but i live in NY so i have park skis and rockered skis i mess around on when we get 3 inches of snow

Wut?

Why would you have 3 pairs of working park skis, and 2 pairs of powder skis almost the same dimensions.

Man I wish I was rich.

I don't personally haha I wish, but I mean I feel like some people would

I roll a pair of dice and then pick a card out of a new deck and then slap a penguin and then jump off a bridge into my ski boots then roll down a hill and whichever ski I hit at the bottom is the one I take.

Once skied 7 feet of fresh powder on a pair of mogul skis through this method, best day ever.

I ski whatever i'm in the mood for. I have a lot of skis so its not always condition dependent.

193 cochise works pretty well 90% of the time though.

Whatever I'm reviewing at the time.

Which pretty much means pow skis for everything inbounds. All my alpine skis right now are between 110-130mm waist, because I like that sort of ski.

Skinnier pow skis for walking uphill on.

I don't go fast enough or do enough whirlybirds to absolutely need skinny inbounds skis, although I do hope to expand my quiver in that direction very soon.

110mm 184 praxis mvp, dull edges. park/ all mountain

110mm 184 praxis mvp, new, sharp edges, carving, all mountain, pipe skiing, will eventually become park skis.

113mm 187 praxis wootest + kingpin, touring/resort pow ski

198 atomic gs skis, deathtraps.

could maybe use something fatter for the really deep stuff, but my current set up gets by just fine. no real desire to get a ski narrower than 110.

Look out the window. If powder is covering my table, pow skis. If the sun is up with no new snow, park skis. If friends are over who don't do park, regular skis. Not worried if i choose the wrong pair of skis, they are interchangeable so if i end up doing something else it's fine.

everhthing from pow To all Mtn cruddy jibs to jumps = layzrs

rail days that are spent seshing rails and jibbing literally everything = rayzrs

My favorite ones (line magnum opus) alway come first no matter the condition. And then my park skis when I ride park.
