How do you catch a 20lb snapping turtle?

I would, but its in a man made pond so my dad would tweak on me if I fired a gun near the pond cause its got a liner holdin the water in
 
I absolutly cant shoot ANYTHING at it. I get 50$ if I can catch it, but if I fuck up the liner I pay for it.
 
call up this kid, he will be glad to do that for you

umm get a fish from the market or somethign and put a live trap in the water with some fish in it. or just stick two jumper cables in the water and one big and badass battery cook that sucka
 
Is your dad paying you to catch it? I met a guy once who lost one of his fingers to a snapping turtle.

With that said, you just got to grab it by the shell and try not to let it bite you. Those turtles are viscious as hell and my recomendation is just leave it be.

k ive caught snappers... 20 lbs is pretty fuckin big but...

lure it with something.. fish heads hotdogs anything.. if you can get it up to something shallow that is better. the key is you gotta pick that bad boy up by the tail.. either that or make a pole and rope snare...

at6 any rate there are some ideas but pick it up buy the tail and put it in a bucket or a live trap like they do with lobster and fish
 
All you gotta do is just toss a fishing pole with a worm in keep reeling it in and eventaully it will follow it out and then you get it on land and hit it with a bat or something. I managed to catch a 60-70 pound one once. I have a picture somewhere it was absolutely huge.
 
get real heavy line ive goteen 20lbs on 16lb test and use and big piece of chicken like the kind from the store throw that out there with sum weight on it and use a leader cuz they snap the line real easy and then when u get it close enough to grab u have to just grab its tail and it wont b able to bite u or anything and just pick it up get it outta the water then do w.e u need to do to it
 
i remember 1 time when i was fishing with my friend and this huge ass snapping turtle comes along must of been at least 30lbs was right by us and everytime we caught a fish we would reel it by the turtle and it would take the fish right off the hook for us so my suggestion to u is hook a fish and lure it onto land and deal with it from there like take a big blanket and throw it over the thing so it can see shit and then just jump on top of it and like rope it or sumthing
 
dangle your wang in the water like a worm, and when he comes to bite it off, grab him. easy as pie
 
fishing line, and put a gum ball on the end of the line, honest to god. i caught a fucking huuuuuge one with fishing line and gum, i dind't even have a reel it was crazy.
 
Ok. Thread modification. I need to catch a 20lb snapper IN A POND. It never comes out. I cant shoot it or use anything sharp, so I need to trap it. I hear about turtle traps but I need to know what the fuck I'm looking for and where to get it.
