How do you build a backyard rail

obviously you have very little experience w/ power tools. so here's a segestion mate, find someone who knows how to weld and use a reciprical saw. they can help you and you get to keep your fingers.

ok look obviously your pretty new at this so buy some PVC piping and lumber if you wanna spin on it and switch ups i suggest somthing not that big

then when your all done put some gass on the edges and sparklers at the end you you'v got yourself a real BBQ rail!

for something real simple take 2 pieces of 2"(diameter) PVC on top of a 2X4 and srcew from the bottom, then make supports(legs) the height you want you rail and make sure its stabble!

Go here www.newschoolers.com/web/forums/readthread/cat_id/1/thread_id/167386/page/2/ that is where i got the plans to build my backyard setup.

i'm thinkin of some thing about 15 ft long and about 3 ft tall i have a great inrun because of th hill in my backyard

that's ballsy. I've never heard of anybody building an aluminum rail.

To the thread creator, I'd recommend building your rail two feet high rather than three. Three feet is higher than you think if you want to spin on. Search through the forums and pictures for a while, there's a lot of rail building info on here.

i have spun onto rails higher than 3 ft and i feel comfortable with that its just that its nice to have your own rail to practice on

Step 1: Design the rail to how much material you'll need.

Step 2: Go to a steel place and purchase the material, some

may have minimum purchase before they deleiver

which might suck cuz steel usually comes in 24 and 40

foot lengths.

Step 3: Cut the material to your plans. To cut the steel, you

will want to idealy use a band saw with a metal blade

or a chop saw. Next best to those are pobably an

angle grinder with a cutting disk on it or if worse

comes to worse hack saws (if you think using a hack

saw sucks try being in my program where you have to

make this part for an old biplane that holds the

cables in place usuing only a hacksaw and files plus

high precision measureing tools and you have to get

each peice of the thing with in .010 of an inch, and

the main block of steel must have all perfect 90

angles)

Step 4: Weld that shit together, you'll prob need to find a

buddy that welds and buy him beer, but on the plus

side someone with a welder usually has the tools to

work with steel.

or do what i do and scrounge a junk pile for an entire summer, find a nice hand rail that some institution discarded, and stick it in the dirt and pray for snow.

Just buy a bunch of thick plumbing pipes from home depot or some shit like that. You dont need to cut or any of that, just put 90 degree pipes on the end to make them curve back down.

You never played one of those pipe game on the old school windows?

alright chill out man. sounds like your best bet is what someone said about a 2x4 and pvc. that way its cheaper, easier to build, and it wont be too hard to put a kink in it if you want to

Uh...... Not to be a dick or anything but you have to chill the fuck out. I built my first gocart when I was 8. I made a drop in/rail when I was 13. If you know your basics its not too hard. Search around because no one is willing to look for you. Also take a look at my pictures and you'll see quite a few of them.

for you? just have someone weld one. its the best option for everyone actually. its not even that much for a really nice rail and itll be metal which is cooler and stronger. you save maybe 60 bucks making a homemade rail but it could break and it wont be as nice

i have some pics of one i built in my profile, pretty easy, took me about half a days work and i just used some left over construction material so no biggy.
