How do you become a groomer/terrain park builder

i really want to become qualified to drive a CAT at ski resorts and build jumps and i was wondering if there is a training course or qualifications you need or how you go about becoming qualified for that job. if anybody knows anything about it that would be sweet. thanks

im pretty sure that first you work on park crew and hand groom sutff then once you work there for a while you work your way up and go to cutters camp with the current groomer. idk but i think thats how it works.

I guess you gotta work your way up. You gotta build a lotta trust before they even let you touch the cat.

One thing - just make sure you work for a mountain that cares about their park.

if you can, try and get licensed as a heavy equipment operator. that way you have credentials and experience, so the mtn will be more willing to hire you

you don't need shit!!! I've been operating a snow cat at mammoth mtn for 7 years. they hire fresh rooks every year!! after a year of fleet grooming(grooming trails) you can work your way into park cats. you just have to be willing to work grave shift(12:30-9:00am) some times. It's an off road machine so you dont need a license! the best way to get started it to just apply. keep calling the grooming manager back to show some real interest. not every week but maby once a month. dont let them forget your name. they hire random people every year so you have a good chance if they can remember your name. most grooming jobs come with a snow making job till there is enough snow. ride sleds all night and deal with high pressure lines. Damn fun! good luck
