Mine goes like that, but then after it gets past my ears, it goes cork screw curly. In lengthy my hair is past my sholders, but since its curly it only goes like more than a couple of inches past my ears.

But to get wings, you have to play with your hair until they curl upwards, using a brush or hat helps alot, if it doesn't come naturally to you.
