How do people keep dying?

Someone genius on here please enlighten me how in this day in age 8 people can die from the storms out East? I understand car accidents, but thats not due to the storm, thats due to driving in the storm.

Carbon monoxide and chimney fires are what do it for northern new England. Northern new england is really poor to the point where most people can afford carbon monoxide readers and can't afford to get their chimneys swept. I know I couldn't afford to get my chimney swept if my landlord didn't do it when living up north.

Good question, it always puzzles me htf people die from snow. Car accidents are a big factor, the rest is basically weak people + overexertion from shoveling OR exposure to the coldness. You don't hear about many healthy people dying during a storm, its usually the elderly.
