How do I slide rails like Wabs and most ski grabbers here?

hey hey hey, I just started skiing last year but got super into it and started skiing park this year. I can slide most boxes in my park. But whenever I try to bring it to rails I slip back and kill myself. The obvious answer is to lean forward more but I am never in control enough to find myself pushing either one of my legs down on the rail. I can slide corrugated tubes well tho. Pls help

The key to skiing like wabs is to keep your arms in the upright position above your head as often as possible

I was in the same position as you very recently. When you pop onto the rail, I learned you need to look at the end of it. This brings your center of gravity forward and let’s you control your slide. It sounds crazy but it actually makes a world of difference

Can confirm that this works like a charm

Also You need to make sure you do a full 90 degree rotation when popping onto the rail, keep your head straight and rotate your waist. I keep my chest pointed the same direction as my eyes, it helps with spinning on and off anything.

I found bending your knees and spreading your legs helps.

Look at the end of the rail like everyone else is saying too.

This advice is gold

There really isn't anything else you can do besides practice. What helped me a ton was sessions on a rail with roller blades over the summer. I told myself I can do it on Rollerblades so it really took the fear on the approach. You might think you know how to do it, but once the muscle memory kicks in you don't always do what you thought you would. You just need to smash your hip enough that you learn not to lean back.

Just coped a pair of aggressive blades in order to practice during the summer. What type of a rail/box is the best to get started with on blades?

5-10 ft ~2inch barrel

My friend had the same problem when he started skiing. Just ski more and also get a wider stance when you're grinding rails. Look at Keegan Killbride he squats fully down when he grinds rails. Even wabs has a wide stance. Go at least shoulder stance any more narrow you'll either slip out or catch your edge.

yo dont let the rail ride you

looking at the end is a good start, but often that lead to focusing to much on just getting to the end. People like that often look frozen on rails

wabs is loosey goosey when he does the slide

so

ride the rail, when you get on it don't wait for it to be over, relax, feel it under you feet and get comfortable wobbling a little bit on it

eventually with enough practice you will ride the rail and it wont ride you

just jump, do a 90 degree turn and
