I bought skis on vacation and just have a cheap ski bag with no padding i dont know how to protect them from getting damaged on the airlines. . Should i wrap them in foam or anythinng?

wrap your pants and jacket around them, and any other type of clothing youre briging with you that you dont really care about if it gets wrinkled

put em in your lip, then suck on em. dont swallow though, itll make you puke. make sure you spit everything out.

for best results, use skoal skis.

Unless the airline lets you take them on for free, pack them up all nice and ship them fed ex with insurance. Airlines handle your stuff like shit because they are overworked and underpaid.

If they don't have bindings it wouldn't be too expensive to jsut ship them to where you are going

^yeah^ like he said, you wanna put your skis in a bag , seperate the tips by putting cloth in between the skis, and put cardboard around the bindings, itll absorb the shock when they chuck em under the plane, trust me. I've flown my whole life.

no not really, my buddy used to do baggage claim and load airplanes for an airport. he said they don't do much, but they just try to break shit. not that he did it, but the guys he worked with would listen for shit to break and what not...thats pretty disrespectful. oh well just gotta pack your shit good.

like the other 100% of this thread said, clothes, as many as you can fit to still zip it all wrapped around your skis.

I always thought about sandwiching a 2x4 between your skis in the bag to help prevent them from getting snapped.

not to claim but i have three of these and i only payed 30$ for all three

to the tread creator either buy one of these, a nice padded ski bag, or wrap as much cloths around them as you can. or you will pay the price.

wrap them in clothes - the other benefit is that it saves space in your other luggage!

I just put them straight up, adding anything more to my ski bag would make it too heavy, i had two pairs of skis, two pairs of poles, helmet, shoes, and boots and i hit 49.6 lbs. you really dont need padding.

I put elastic bands around my skis (tip & tail) to keep them from coming apart and slamming and stuff, put some outerwear in the bag and I'm set.

Careful wrapping them in your gear. My last flight when I got to the destination I had my pants all cut up from the edges, gloves cut and somehow the poles bent at 90 degree angles. I've known other people getting their clothes messed up from being with the skis too. Invest in a padded bag.
