So yesterday i posted about ideas for what to do with a old kids bike, and i have chosen to make water-ski bike to be towed behind a boat. We have a basic outline but we need some NS help on how to go about making this thing real. +K for constructive answers, useful hints, and good Website links.

EXAMPLE

(if your confused on what i'm saying this bike should look like, reference this :

or if you've seen circus with greg godfrey being towed on that bike)

thanks

we don't have the same kind of bike or the other things they used.. i mean. we could model it after that but kind of need instructions on how to work it

It looks like they just drilled through the wood, stabbed the axle bolt part through and then glued them or something to the skis.

you're going to need a lot wider ski than is pictured above. 2 reasons - a ski that is 3 inches wide is going to be damn near impossible to get out of the water...you'll need looooots of hole power. it's also going to be really hard to ride....good luck balancing that thing once you get up. Realistically I'd probably go for a 6 or 8 in wide ski for something like this. (I'm not saying riding that thing would be impossible - I can ski on a boat oar, my feet, etc. so I realize it can be done...i'm just thinking for practical purposes you'll want to go bigger)

I've often contemplated this myself, and was determined to build one after I saw Nitro Circus, but haven't gotten to it yet. Shot skis are to much fun to build instead.

What I was planning on doing since I have a bit of skill with a welder, was to extend and widen the frame in the back to elongate the rear wheel area so it could accommodate one of the old Jump skis our team has ( for stability and lift), then in the front I was going to place either two combo skis or a small Slalom ski and see what happens.

just an idea.

stand up, put your hand in a thumbs up position, aim the thumb for your butt hole, then sit down really fast

Do it out of snowboard's that would be ill.

But yeah. Find blocks of wood like that. Bolt it too the board you choose (looks like four bolts)

Then bolt the frame to the blocks.

I would have the skis angle back so that it would give you more lift when starting off and hopefully minimize the chance of nose diving. For stability i would look at a 3 ski system similar to a GT racer but just bigger.

see if you can find a wide ski like an old jump ski. Just mount the frame on it and go! Not sure about having the Independent front, might make it wicked hard to start. But pretty much the wider/long you go the easier it will be.
