k so i just got my skis. there is a big rail jam this weekend in my town and my sponsor wants many shots of me on skis. so he sent me the skis they are mounted and ready to go. besides one problem straight from the factory. edges are way to sharp. how do i get the edges dull enough to the point where i won't die? like what should i use and how long i should do it for?

All you have to do is get a 2 or 3 degree base bevel and a file and go to town on your edges. If you don't know how to tune your skis take them to a shop and tell them to put at 2 or 3 degree base bevel on your skis.

yea if u have any idea wat a gummi stone is use that

if not u could take that other kids advice and put like 2 or 3 degree base edge. but ur edges will still be sharp. best bet is teh gummi stone or jsut runnin a file along them

hmmmm, you have a sponsor.. yet you have no idea how to detune your skis? something just doesn't make sense

Not to sound like a broken record, but I agree with everyone saying to bevel the edge 1 or 2 degrees. i think 3 might be way too much, and might make the edge too weak, and susceptible to cracking. If you're really experienced with tuning, you can make the bevel 2 under the boot, then transition to 1 further on the effective edge, so that you have a smooth transition that will allow you to not get hung up on rails, but likewise still have hold on the ice.

you are sponsered but cant detune your skis?! i dont understand. i think someone is telling a fib. unless your sponser is like your friend and he wants to take pictures of you at the rail jam

you are my favorite newb.

the caps lock is really working for you.

some people cant pull it off, but, i think it really works with your style.

like said many times above, 2 degree bevel under boot to 1/2 bevel on the rest of the ski is my preference... but if you can't tune/care to tune them, a gummy stone or an agressive file will do the trick...

just get a good file, and go along the edge under foot. youll see the metal come off, but you can get them butter smooth in no time.

hahahaha, this thread is hilarious. everyone has said the EXACT same thing.

and i'm not gonna lie, the fact that he doesnt know how to detune his edges doesn't really mean shit....i know two kids that are sponsored that i guarantee don't know how to detune their edges "correctly". give him a break.

WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT? OBVIOUSLY SINCE IT SAYS "PRO" UNDER HIS ICON HE IS NOT A NEWB, HE IS A PRO! YOU ARE SILLY!

(please note the e-sarcasm)

get a file and go to wrok. dont be afraid of filing off a lot. if its a box id make sure to file above the bindings and behind.

yea that also works, place your tongue on the metal part of the ski, but for it to work it has to be under freezing

No one said sand paper yet, so Im gonna go with that, you dont take off as much edge.

But see, the reason that I know you're lying about being sponsored is because no one that I've ever talked to that is actually sponsored says, "my sponsor"... mainly cuz most companies try not to sponsor douche bags. Also, if your sponsor wants to take pictures of you with your new skis, it would have to mean you're sponsored by a ski company. Dream on buddy, we still don't think you're cool.

I used a daimond knife sharpener, works great and fast if you have one but anything that does the same thing will work
