How do deaf people think?

It just popped into my head one day. How do deaf people think? For those of you who say, Just like people who can hear; think about it. When we think, we have sort of conversations with ourselves and we hear the words. Do they picture things or is it just silence?

This is to mean no offense to anyone.

lol give the man a break, its an interesting question, when i think to myself, it coems verbally in my head.. Deaf people just think differently i guess

I have a severe hearing loss, so I could answer your question, but its a dumb question and hard to explain.

for a while when I was young(1 through to 6) before my parents could figure out why I couldnt talk and shit like that I didnt learn or hear much.

so i spent those years not knowing how to talk or hear and often wondered what the hell certain noises were.

instead of speaking english or any form of language when you think to yourself you just have feelings and emotions, like emotions of curiosity and stuff like that.

but even being without hearing aids till the age of 6 I was still capable of hearing and learning some words.

its just fucking hellllla lot slower.

that is neat indeed.. i wish i hwas blind just for liek a couple days... jsut so i could be like haha fuckers i got my vision back... but seriousl.. i feel sorry for people that will never hear or see the sights and hear the sounds.. or it could be worse you could be helen keller

I wasnt saying deaf people arent normal. I also had a deaf friend until she moved away and we lost touch.

Fuck the rest of you

thats rough man....i hear that some deaf people dont use hearing aids or get surgery because they some end up not liking being able to hear. they dont really care about not hearing because they never experienced it. thats really interesting

you dick you could still write like i know you cant really talk on the phone... but.... you dick.. haha oh well bound to happen

but seriously, a while ago i was really sick and went deaf for a couple days and i could still think normally and everything.. thoughts aren't sounds, they're thoughts...

i guess if i was born deaf it would be a different story though, because i wouldn't know what the words sounded like in the first place.

holy! at first i thuoght this was a stupid question, but now that i think about it, it's trippy.

yeah when your born like that you havent ever had the experience to hear or learn how to say them or what they mean.

so theres no actual way of talking to yourself in your head like you would when you think about shit.

but basically you have to look at this way....

when you see a big fucking flamer walking down the street with the tightest short shorts youve ever seen and you think What the FUCK!! in your head, and you have that what the fuck feeling going on too, all you would think is of the feeling/emotion of how you react to seeing it.

just without words.

We used to talk through IP relay on the phone, but our time talking diminished as we got older becuase of sports and school and just lost touch.

No

They do not know what sight is and dreams are memories of past experiences. They cant dream sights if they have never seen anything

this is actually a good question. If someone is deaf from birth and have neve rheard a word spoken before they wouldn't think in their head "should I get an apple or not" like we do occasionally. I think this is a valid question.

only thing tho is that completely deaf people actually do hear some things, its not like complete utter silence, like if they stand next to a train theyre gunna hear a quite rumble in there head...

ever notice how you go to a concert and the musics so loud it like vibrates in your stomach and rib cage and all that shit?

Ever have one of those days where you think god damn the universe is so complex then you spend hours pondering somehow to explain it but you can't. I wish I could tap into that energy. Imagine the advances in life? What happens when we figure out everything? Then what? What happens after death? I mean there are so many questions, I'm only 15 I shouldn't be worrying about this.

I think this is a very good question. There is a deaf guy I work with but and he always looks like he has no clue what the fuck is going on. He can read lips and stuff, so we kinda point and tell him what to do. I would be interested to know what his thinking process is, when he needs help he goes "woop woop". I dont know if hes been deaf since birth or not, but he drives and shit which I thought was kinda odd since he wouldnt be able to hear sirens or anything.

If people were normal and then all the sudden went blind, It should be something they can still identify with, but if they had been born blind, then could you imagine trying to explain something to them

in my school there are so many deaf kids and they always get away with stuff more than everyone else. plus they block up the hallway when they sign to each other. im not trying to be mean or like hate on them or anything but they can be really annoying sometimes. and ive seen some of them walk around listening to ipods which i dont understand. if your deaf how can you listen to an ipod?
