When did you first see twin tips and freeskiing...did you get into it right away... i was thinking about this this weekend on a solo lift ride up.

i first saw twins like 3 years ago when this guy i worked with had line mavericks...i thought it was kinda strange at first but yeah.

i saw them around the hill a bit and then i saw First Strike by PFP back in like, 02 and thought it was siick. the next day i went out and fall flat on my back on a picnic table

I was already skiing, but then a couple of my friends went park crazy and bought twins, so I followed. I'm really glad I did.

the first time was in startton when i saw a guy on line mavericks throw a 360..i thought he was ill....i got some junior 1080s and now im rally into big mountain

I skied when i was younger, but then i stopped, then my friend showed me some new stuff they were doin on skis, then like a few weeks later and talkin with the rents, we went out and got me salomon 1080Ts

first ones i saw were my friends 720s, and then i wanted the buy the next years one (red and blue) but the guy at the ski show said it would effect racing if i decided to race again (wow what a load of shit) so i bought 1080s the next year

yeah i was skiing on racing skis eventhough i didnt race but i thought i was cool.. and i still do.

i started seeing more and more people with twin tips on the mountain i guess its getting bigger.

uh...in 1997 or 98 some friends and I used torches to burn and pull up the tails of some k2 Mambas, those creating twin tips so we could land backwards. I guess that's when I got into it. THen I purchased the original yellow 1080s as soon as they came out.

my friend bought some 1080's for $100 and i wanted new skis so i also got 1080's. Man those are some good skis. probally half the people on NS has had the orginal yellow and black 1080's as their first twin!

my bro showed me that movie of warren miller, its name was coldfusion or so. there were just a few park shots in there, but that got me right into the whole stuff. i searched the internet and found some sites especially ns.com and got more into it. but before i was renting 1080s and we were riding a bit switch and so but they were fvkcing powder skis for us.

kinda hilarious, i was easily 170 cm, was riding 80 mm waist 1080s in 161 and thought they were powder skis.

ok they are great for the classy pow style with the short turns but still.

i saw snowblades in like, 1999 then didnt think long twins existed till about 01 when i saw the planetx games on tv and got the 02 issue of powderhound.

i got the front line in 02 or 03 and i crapped my pants.

My cuz won a comp in montana(under 16) and got the blue 1080's and then sold em to me since he was ridin vertigo's i believe that was 2 seasons ago i think...

a couple people at my mountain were pretty good and as a snowboarder i looked up to them..i went out and bought an issue of freeze and had it for like a year...read EVERYTHING in it...then eventually i bought used twins then i bought another pair of used twins then i just got my skogens....thats been within the past 8 months

my friend got a pair of the orange 1260's and i thought it was sweet so the next year i went out and found a pair the orange 1260's and it took off from there that was like 3 years ago

Skied with 210cm rossi 4s, the green one. tehn figured out shorter skis were a lot eseir to do trick with so i used 165 vipers kids models, broke them then frist saw what the NCAF were doing witht the 1080 and bought the blue one as soon as my shop carried them

when I was in 3rd grade I saw the origonal ski movie, and it baffled me, so then after that I bought a pair of kids concept dynastars and I didnt really do much with those I tried 3's and then it wasnt untill 6th grade that I actually started progressing.

I used to snowboard when i was like 11, but we went skiing with our friends from Denver at Steamboat and he had a pair of twin tips, he told me to rent a pair of skis for a day. It was so much more fun and i went so many more places around the mountain and i was hooked

Nice thread,

I think I saw twins for the first time in the first issue of SBC skier. I was so impressed. I went out that year and bought orange 1080s from the season previous. I don't think I learned anything except 180s that entire season, haha. I was terrible at skiing switch too.

At that time, here's the twins I can remember: Salomon 1080, Salomon 720, K2 Enemy, K2 AK Enemy, Line 1260, Line Skogens, Line Motherships, Line Darksides (I think), Rossignol PowAirs, Head Airs, Dynastar Candide's, Dynastar Concepts. I think the Line Ostness Dragons and the Dynastar Twinboard had both come and gone.

That winter, the scratch was released. The following summer, news of Armada skis was all over NS and whistler. I remember hearing rumours of 4Frnt later that same summer.

i had been messing around in the park for a season on my normal skis, just trying grabs and stuff. went with the family to Panorama and one channel on our tv was back to back salomon ads. there was one with JP Auclair where he explains a few grabs, a 180 and 360. i must have watched it 50 times and spent the rest of the vacation on rented blue 1080s trying to learn the stuff in the video. next year I bought k2 enemies.

i just use to watch kids in the park skiing and thought it was the sweetest and coolest thing ever, so i began to do it

I was skiing but I bought snowblades and a snowboard for 1 winter to ski switch and to jump then I found some french mag with candide and mikael I tought it was fucking sick, found ns then I bought ennemies

Shit, to be honest with you I cannot remember where/when I saw my first twins, first day in the park or what got me from the groomers into the park... Weird.

i wanted the 1080s three seasons ago but got snaps instead. i think the dynastar razors were the first twins i saw.

the first twins I ever saw was the elan airtwist trx and I was 10...so its 6 years ago...iI think its the 1st EVER, but maybe the old salomon with plastic tips...not sure, anyway, I tried to ski the airtwist...165cm...I was about 130cm...but still, i liked it pretty much and the next year i got my 1st pair of twins... the airtwist 140cm...so many memories

i had always hit jumps since i was like 5 but i got my first twins 3 yrs ago.

i guess the first time i herd about them was like 5 yrs ago in a powder mag in my dentists office

um like 10 years ago, in vail all of my friends were switching over from moguls and racing and doing tricks, they have al been doing it since the begining and still are killin it, YA VAIL KIDS!!!!

global storming and older tgr movies, as well as older powder magazines influenced me, made me try and grind and ski switch on non twins, because i was super stoked on the ncaf.

then ski movie, and propaganda sealed the deal for me. i bought some old rossi twins, screwed around for a year, found ns, then bought some volkl expressions, which i promptly broke. then i got scratches, and for the past two years, a seasons pass to tremblant, and got ahold of nearly every ski mag and movie out there.

...and seth morrison. gotta include him in there, because he has influenced me from the moment i began to watch him ski. i ultimately want to ski how he skis.

Hmmm... well back in like eighth grade there was a "snowpark" and skiiers were'nt allowed. My friends and me all had race skis (we weren't racers, however), and saw this skiier stomp a 360 on this small booter. We were all shaken about it, and decided to try; after a few tries we were basically all able (no one tried to stop us). Next season, we all got twins, and it's been non-stop since then.

Ive been skiing since I was 4 years old. Im 13. When I was 8, we took a trip to mt-st-anne, and I rented snowblades for the first time. I was facinated by the way you could go backwards and stuff. So I bought a pair of snowblades, and started to do 360s and stuff, so I was like wow this is cool.

So I started to search on the web to find movies, and I found SAS films. I watched SAS movies for a long time, and bought my first pair of junior 1080s not long after, because I downloaded ski movie one, and I was like, hey I cant do that on snowblades, so I bought skis.

It was funny, I thought I new alot about skiing and I was all like: heyy man did you see johnny mosely throw that dinner roll iron cross!

Anyways, one day, I was reading the comments on a SAS film, and it said something like: Man, if you want to bitch about someones skiing, go on newschoolers.com

i have been skiing all my life pretty much but in the last year or so i have been getting into the park scene more and more

Saw one guy doing 5s when I was on holiday like 4/5 years ago. Thought it was alright. Then saw some magazines and propaganda and was blown away by what they could do.

Took me a few years to afford twins though.

my oldest brother was doing some shit with a bunch of his friends and they made me do a 3 and freeskiing was the only way i could hang out with him so i just baught twin tips and started ripping

haha, i remember me and my cousin from voss was taking the lift up waaay back, like when i was skiing 6 days in one season and didn't really care. he was a boarder and i had racing skis. we were talking about getting the new sick "blades" we saw some older guys doing3's and grabs on some jumps and thaugt blades where the sickest thing ever. we had also herd something about this "twin tips" we figuerd out they were blades you could adjust the lenght of.(HAHAHA) well, we never got either of them until like 2 and a half year ago when i got my first twins. the first atomic tweaks. the year i got them i also saw my first ski movies. my neighboor had alot of them. now i get fucked up if i don't get to ski as often as possible.
