How come chris Turpin isnt on the Armada pro team,.. he fukin kills it.. nice dude, smokes mad green and straight up fukin shreds, 1st skier to do full pipe runs fakie, preety much started the whole fakie pipe movement and learnt double flat spins in like a day... obiously he fell of the map for a while but now hes back KILLin it.. i think hes og enough to deserve a place on the armada pro team? doesany one agree with me?

dude, jacob wester isent even on the pro team, but i bet he would like some company on the "am" team(notice i put am in "")

Turpin deserves a spot over Jacob... and in my opinion they should both be on the pro team.. and Phil Casbon should be on the AM.. im just curious to know why you dont think turpin deserves a spot. hes been holding it down for years

it's july. wait until they upload the new site in the fall (as they have done in the past) then continue you're bitching over who is and isn't on certain levels.

regardless, if athletes stick with the team whether they are considered am or regional, it can't be that bad...

He is not on the Pro Team because he is not actually sponsered. Armada is just helping him out because he has been skiing for a long time.

Excuse me?? I'm sorry, I'm not wearing my contacts so I may have misread that, but I thought for a second you implied Turpin is better than Jacob...

Obviously that has no sensible basis seeing as Jacob is probably top 5 slope/big air skiers in the world and an absolute steeze dispenser.

ok , for all you kids that just started skiing and don't know nothing except for dumont yune and x-games... turpin has been there for all generations . he invented the massive gap to rail(orage master sw. 270) he invented the hand drag which all of you thinks if super cool, one of the best switch guy out there whit pep, contest wise , i think he has enouf results , for . and hes good at everything , park , pipe, back country jibs ... name it . name a trick , he's done it or invented it . and why do you thinks tanner hall ask him to shoot for him a little bit this year? has for who should be on the pro team or not , who cares they are both real good ,but only one of them wears make up ...
if you ask me , he is in the legend status of our sport, whit cusson ,dorion, auclair, szocs , candide ,seth...
you kids are funny...

The titles are irrelevant. Turpin is riding on armada and thats all you need to know really...

7 posts in 4 years! Flyin under the radar there dude-

and the winner of the "NS silent but deadly award for longtime covert ops (aka lurking)" goes to.....

Yessir, you have won! Call now for details of your prize!

Getting back to the thread, don't get me wrong, Turpin is sick and definately an OG but aussiepimp,or whatever name he now goes by, made the somewhat ill-judged assertion that Turpin deserves to be higher up than Jacob in the pecking order. Now while the pro/am distinction is of little consequence to us mere mortals and frankly, I'm sure it's just a case of the website not having been updated, I uphold that Jacob is a better (insert definition here) skier. That is arguable maybe, but he's cerainly higher profile and as such worth more to Armada from a PR perspective. Whatever, it doesn't matter to either of them I'm sure.

Actually, if i remember it right, Wester was offered a place on the pro team one year after he signed with Armada but passed on it. I think he said that it wouldn't change anything for him really, like there were no reason to actually be on the pro team instead of the am team. This is what I've heard, but it was a couple of years ago so things might have changed now, there may be other reasons he's not on the pro team, but back then he just didn't want too.

But again, that's just what I've heard, so it might be wrong.

i musta missed something here but i was just on the armada website and trupin is not listed. Casabon should be on the am team and Jacob should be on the pro team for sure. kinda strange tho, they have some big name pros but some regional guys that i dont hear about too much (cept for casabon of course)

haha! yeah kinda, but from a pr perspective, a guy who wins big international slope/big air comps is a "better" skier than the under-the-radar all rounder. that's my point really.

actually turpin was placing in comps long before jacob busrst on the scene and the whole reason Armadas pro team is soo exclusive is that it represents something that athletes must work to develop a pro status , over a number of years, which in my opinion turpin has done. i think hes one of the most under rated skiers out there and at a time was on top of the game but sponsors fucked him over.. now hes back with a vengence.. soo armada should reward that and put him and jacob on there pro team .. and Phil casbon on the Am team .. along with Davina Williams.. casue that chicks hot and the only other chick doing 10s in the pipe..

Regardless of what it says on the Armada website, everybody knows that Turpin and Jacob are pros.

I think another reason the Turp is legendary is because he started skiing at the age of 20 years.

ok, look who is on the pro team... Look who started armada...kinda match up a little bit huh? Tj was am for 3-4 seasons before he was bumped up to pro. Im guessing armada's pros have a little bit bigger impact with the company then a normal pro so they keep it as a very tight group. A while ago people were having the same argument over why tj wasnt pro so i would just leave it as armada works their team in a different way then any other in the industry.

ever since the first whispers of armadas name reached NS they have been amazing at generating hype. they make their team the most exclusive in the business so that we'll talk about it, just like this. and it isnt new, anyone remember how long boronowski spent on the am team? its all marketing, and it kinda turns me off the brand.

hahahahahahahahahahahahaha

thats kinda like saying jon started the double flip movement.... kinda true if you neglect that wilson was doing double flips 2-3 years earlier.

turpin skied the all switch run in what.... like 2003..... it was so ahead of its time that people forget it happened/ dont connect it to the current incarnation of switch pipe skiing.

Armada have proven in teh past that their definition of pro/am is different then most other companies.

I gurataee you that some of their non-pro athletes get some $$

Modern skiing double flips? When I say double flips, I mean more than a double back or a double front. I hate to say it...but the Schrab brothers with double misty flips and switch 180 into double fronts. Also from Utah was Rick Wrobelowski (sp) with the Risky Flip. D-spin 7 to back flip. Toben Sutherland on transitions with the Venus FlyTrap, a flair to front flip.

Who cares? Pro Team, Am Team, whatever. Turpin is a great skier, no doubt. I'm actually surprised he hasn't gone to one of the smaller INDE labels where they would probably give him a lot of love.
