How can you improve a halfpipe?

Heres an idea: set up two giant hips at the very top. People go huge off the hip, land and go up the other side, and get the first hit with a great amount of speed. This would also allow greater speed going into the pipe, and generally make bigger airs possible. Pumping into the pipe looks cool, but why not get some massive air right before your first hit?

Kinda, they need to make halfpipes in comps different, like vert pipes in skateboard competitions are.

i saw a picture of some snowboarders in a pipe somewhere in Europe (i don't remember where the location was because i don't know many European mountains) where there was a wallride on one side at the end of the pipe. I figured this was going to be the next big thing in halfpipe comps, but that was a couple years ago and it still hasn't caught on.

my park guy (yeah we only have one guy who actually does something for out park :s)made this long q-pipe and he was gunna set up a box or rail on the top and a barrel near the end

in happy dayz theres wallrides on the pipe. you guys should check the Showcase Showdown in whistler. its snowboarders only but its described as "pipe-style" wallrides, kickers onto the deck, down rails off the end. pretty sick

lots of mountains put shit on the sides of pipes, but if youre doing a ful fledged pipe run, theyre a bitch because its damn unlikely youll end up being right there.

^yeah i think its a lot harder because the snow is always melting or freezing so it would impossible to keep a cooping.

^that too. a pipe is a hard feature to maintain well, much harder than any other, and sticking things all around require so much maintainance

whistler has/had a bunch of things set up on the side of their pipe for a contest. it was stuff like boxes and rails and etc. that is if i'm remembering correctly

copper had it on theirs the first year it went over to loverly. it was sweet like the first time, but after that it was like humpin the same old pipe...

make the walls 25-30 feet high. bigger airs & smoother transitions, but with walls that big the degree of pipes would probably need to be steeper.

I went to see that, it was a pretty cool comp. I like how candide sometimes hits the start of a pipe like a hip, gets mad air, and lands in the pipe.

i want to see more gaps in halfpipes maybe with coping connecting them and more boxes and shit to jib on the deck

I was watching this snowboarding comp. once and they had a hip into the pipe the a gap with a rainbow rail in the middle that takes you out of the pipe.

yah my hill had a jib pipe compitition. they had a saddle box going into the half pipe. its like an inverted rainbow. and if you wanted a true pipe comp you wouldnt be able to keep your speed up if you were constantly stalling and grinding on things like if you havent noticed skiers and snowboarders need their half pipes on hills to maintain speed. skateboarders and rollerbladers dont need that they can pump better and maintain inertia(i dont know if thats the right word to use here) so yah its all about maintaining speed

i remember in rfa when greg tufflemyre went for a 1260 in the pipe gap and absolutely wrecked in to a bloody mess. so sick though

Super over vert walls so you could do wall to wall transfers. Would probably help to have a very strong cross wind and bottle of Jack to make this one happen

I wanna see a whole run made into a pipe run with sections of banks n bends n gaps n jibs n shit in it

how sick would it be to have a recessed wall ride. then it would be either a channel gap if you hit the normal pipe... or a wall ride if you skied 5 feet past the regular walls up to a quarterpipe leading to the wall ride.

watch the nixon jibfest video they have a mini-pipe with all this stuff on the sides, its mad danky.
