so ya i just got a new piece just the hole at the bottom of the bowl is pretty tiny so its reall hard to breath in thru it when u have the carb covered. so any1 have any suggestions on how to make the hole bigger? its a glass piece so i gotta be careful about breaking it.

your pretty fucked man, thats one of the things you're supposed to look at when you're checkin pieces out in the shop... but anyway you gotta work with it now, and when that hole gets nice and resin'd up its gonna be even worse. the only thing i can think of is get some pretty high count sand paper and roll it up and just sex up the hole with the sand paper for awhile, should open it up a little bit.

try using a file. and just slowly and carefully scrape away what you don't want. it will scratch the pipe but you could always buff it out or just leave it.

ya i know but the pipe was so sick i had to get it. thanks for the tip i think ill try that it sounds like it should work.

jewelers files would work perfectly. they're tiny and you can likely find them at a crafts store.

keep in mind that glass is, technically, never "solid". if you can find a way to heat the glass before trying to file it, you'll soften it and decrease the risk of cracking it.

altogether, though, it's a bad idea.

perhaps why it would be a good idea to blow through the piece for a while after trying to file it? wow, that was fucking hard to figure out...

I was going to say try a small drill bit and douce it with water while drilling, but crazyfuck's idea sounds better. Sucks dude, good luck.

It depends how thick the glass is but I did this for my mini bowl which has pretty thin glass in the bowl area...

Take a torch lighter and hold the bowl upside down and the torch directly into the hole to heat it up. Take a really small screwdriver that can fit in the hole already and put it in. Then slowly push the hole outwards to make it bigger and every once in a while heat the glass up again if it cools down too much to push it outwards...Again this depends on the thickness and may or may not work for yours but I had success with mine.

that's what I was thinking, if you could reshape the class I'd imagine that'd be a lot better than scraping it.

id sell it and get a new one, there is no point to even file it or drill it. just suck up the loss if u cant sell it and get a new one with a bigger opening.

they sell drill bits specifically for glass so maybe hit up an ace hardware or something like that just look around or try the heat it up idea that sounded like it might work if it isn't like triple or double blown cause it might be to thick to get hot enough...

you fail at buying pipes. its very dangerous to do if u drill it. if you try to melt it you risk closing the hole one way or another. return it if u can, but if ur underage, you're fucked.

dont listen to this or any of the other responses suggesting heating it up. i work with glass and unless you are evenly heating the entire piece, its going to crack due to stress.

sandpaper dosent stand a chance against glass

honestly, youre pretty much fucked(shoulda checked it out before buying). if you insist on trying to fix it, i would suggest getting a tiny diamond core drill bit.(the size that you want the hole to be) when youre drilling, have cool water running on the drill bit/hole

good luck

yeah for sure heat it up. it may ruin the design if there is one but hey you shoulda looked at it when you bought it.

slight thread jack, my bowl broke cause my ma threw it in the washer so anyway she gave it back but the stem is broke. Will one of those candle lighter things work to heat up the glass? Or is that probably not hot enough?

epic.

anyway

use a drill to make the hole bigger... make sure u wash it out though when your done drilling it

sounds like u just got a defected or crappy pipe, if you file or drill it MAKE SURE you wash it very thoroughly before smoking or inhaling, or else you get this serious type of lung problem.

dude that guy works with glass so he obviously knows what the deal is.

i say sell it to a friend and go buy another one. this time maybe check it out before you leave the store with it

he would probably rinse it out thoroughly with water and scrub it down and what not to get all the glass dust out.

I'd go for one of the files, they make pretty small files, see if your dad has one in his workbench or something, if not it's probably not worth buying one just give the piece away as a gift or sell it

in the long run it aint. if you smoke everyday youll see how much more you can stretch out your stash with bowls rather than blunts. and if you dont roll at least like a gram in your blunt then its not a real blunt.

I personally enjoy a nice joint over anything, and blunts are nice on special occassion but for daily purposes not so much.

nigga i smoke eryday, you dont need a 20 sack to roll an L, called a pinner son, spliffs are good as well but you might as well just roll up a ciggarillo

Well technically if you are talking about buying and keeping 1 bowl you always use vs. buying papers every time then you will eventually have saved money with the bowl but I just love the cleaner smoke you get from a bowl...

some could get stuck or not come out pretty easily though and i personally dont wanna inhale glas shavings

ima go with the sandpaper aproach

Well it's really not that hard to heat it up evenly maybe you just suck with a mini torch. but yea I dont see how you could get sandpaper to fit into the hole yet still be able to push hard enough on it to wear it down. a file should do it though. I'd still go with heating it up though, despite what the pro glass worker has to say. but heating it up evenly is pretty important and make sure you don't go overboard and fuck it up completely. blunts might not be a bad idea either...

The part about it cracking if u heat it up in one spot Thats not even true.

watch out we got ourselves a glass expert coming in hot with the 8 year old thread bump

When sobe was still in glass, my fried used oxy acetylene to make homemade bongs. I imagine if you preheated the glass and used a very fine tip for the torch, you could make it maluable enough to spread the bowl piece. Just watch where the placement of heat spreads, it is possible.

Keep it super clean or buy a new bowl.

Dunno if this helps you but a glass bowl with a really small hole is perfect for smoking crack out of....
