How can i improve? video critique

I felt that the glitchy effect seemed out of place, didn't really match the flow of the edit and it came off as somewhat disjointed. GoPro shots felt a little murky in comparison to the DSLR footage. Not sure whether your lense has stabilization or not, but that could potentially help with the shakier glidecam footage.

Good starting point though, with a little bit of fine tuning here and there I'm sure that the edits you make next season will be great
 
I feel that edits are an expression of how you see skiing and how ever you want to portray it to other people. the beauty of skiing and filming is that its one of the few things in life that has no rules regulations or restrictions. I think it was a solid edit

i messed up the color correction on the gopro shots hence the murkier feel about them, but thanks dude.

first off i want to say that I enjoyed the edit thoroughly. Are you an Edmonton local by any chance? I've filmed with mark and ryan before is why I ask.

I have a few suggestions as to what you could improve for the next edit.

First thing I noticed is the color corrections in the edit. what programs are you using to color correct? if you aren't using resolve i highly recommend downloading it. its a free program and works absolute wonders when it comes to color correcting. there was a lot of the shots that looked like you could add a little bit more contrast and sharpness to them to help give the colors a little bit of extra punch. A lot of shots of ryan look like they were filmed on his 6d, am I right on that? if that is the case the picture profile that the camera gives a really flat image that gives you a lot more dynamic range in post. if you don't add a litte bit of contrast, saturation, and sharpness though the colors look really dull. Add just a touch of each after white balancing in post and the colors really start to come alive.

Another thing that i noticed is that there was a few shots that were pretty shaky. Perhaps use a little bit of warp stabilizer in after effects (or Sony stabilize in Vegas) to try to smooth some of them out. you have to be careful with those plugins though as it is really easy to use too much and make your footage look like jello. additionally they dont always work on every shot.

and yes you are correct, it was a mixture between ryans 6d and my 100d so will bear that in mind for the future. i did use a tiny bit of warp stabilizer however i didnt want to over do it, it also limits the speed of the clip so i was being wary of that as well.

Haha no not from Edmonton, i am from the UK was in whistler for the season and moving back out there again this winter.

Yeah along with what others have said: I think that especially in the beginning of the edit you need to match your soundtrack better with your edit. if you're going for the slow, cool, smooth feel, you need to match it with your edit. Take out any quick, jarring camera movements (some of the stuff on the lift) and possibly add more slow-mo, but it's definitely a good edit. Color correction is important for adding your own style so don't be afraid to experiment with different looks and find one YOU like
