How can any skier hate on a rollerblader?

I was watching some vids that people had put up on here of rollerblading. Half the replies were things like 'fag, rollerblading sucks, you are gay for rollerblading, etc...'

One reply was particularly interesting. Something like 'that was gay because you were on rollerblades.'

Now, I don't rollerblade, so this is not me defending a sport that I like, but it seems to me like we are judging rollerblading like snowboarders judged us only 4 or 5 years ago.

Just because they are doing something that isnt on a skateboard, they are automatically labeled 'not cool'.

Maybe they dont have as much style as skateboarders, but did skiers have as much style as snowboarders 2 years ago? Do we even today? I'm not sure myself. It seems to me that anyone who skis and who says that rollerblading is gay, is a hypocrite.

No, I'm not arguing that rollerblading is sick, just that we, especially as skiers, cant judge it.

Skiing is the snow equivalent of rollerblading, like it or not.

yeah. while at snowjam the guy behind my would make fun of the rollerbladers every time they took air. he was making fun of a guy doing a flatspin and giving huge props to a guy that was grindin the coping on a skateboard, sure, rollerblading's easyer but you can't say they're shit just because they're on skates. give credit where credit it due. that's my piece.

Word. Hating on bladers is exactly like us getting hated on by boarders. I will deliver a profound 'Fuck you!' to anyone who disses someone because of a sport they love... I will also deliver that same message to anyone who partakes of a sport simply because he/she thinks that it makes him/her 'cool' (i.e., about 75% of skateboarders).

i aggree i mean its just a sport like skiing is a sport and i mean its not like speed skating is the coolest sport ever but people aren't hated casue they do it so why should we hate skaters? i mean there re blades on it plus they were invented before the skateboard so they been here longer..plus its the person that counts, not whats beneath their feet

i think we just don't want to accept how related it is to our sport, so we put it down to push that similarity away

Ok, I skate and I think before anyone judges anything you have to go watch a video of it. Download words by mindgame off kazaa and watch it. then you can judge it. And yeah I agree with you, you have to be open minded.

i personally like to skateboard(not because i think im cool) but because i like too. same with skiing i choose to ski because i like too. i respect rollerbladers a lot and i think its pretty fun. dont let anyonee talk shit about your sport. if they do.... beat the crap outta them.... word.

I sk8board and I do it because i like it... but I think that rollerblading isn't bad I only don't like the style and I prefer to do sk8boarding it's just a feeling about what you do

and all this closer stuff liek inline is closer than skiing... you don't care if your sport are related or not

i'd rather skateboard but roller's still kool and i think snowboarders do have better style then skiiers but it's just an opinion

Rollerblading is awesome. I am finally getting skates for this summer sometime next week. There is this cool six stair ther I am gonna five over

 
how can you not respect skating, I mean landing on skis is easy cause they're like 5 feet long...blades are only a foot long....get it a foot? they're the length of one's foot!!! hahaha...I'm sorry I haven't been the same since I lost my sig :(

ya, theres nothing wrong with rolleblading. if i wasnt so occupied in biking in the summer, i would definitely blade..plus its super good for off-season training

rollerblading isnt all that close to skiing. Ice skating is though. They should have freestyle ice skating (not figure skating) with jumps and rails and stuff. That would be so hard but so awesome.

I rollerblade and ski and they are pretty similar. Especially grinding and spins. Jumps are different because skates are much lighter and its harder to land a trick on skates because you don't have such a long surface.

how often do u see crossed up misties, rodeos flatspins corks etc on a snowboard. We just have so much more innovative style than snowboarding

i saw on tv they had this redbull event and it was like/skier cross, boardercross on ice skates it ws rad.

speaking of ice skating relating to skiing, when i started skiing agaibn in like grade 5 i was really into hockey, and the first time i tried to turn on skis i did a cross over.

Yeah totally man. A lot of those guys are really talented. I think we should just ski and focus on sport instead of setting down other sports. I mean whats next, making fun of nantucket red sweater necked guys playing crocket?
