How can a lone skier get better?

I hear you guys talk about skiing with friends that are as good or better than you. But my problem is that I live in a board infested resort. The only skiers are either really old, little kids, or extreme beginners. As you can imagine, I feel like a raisin in a bowl of milk. So how do I get better when I am skiing with all boarders everytime? Does anyone else experience or deal with this?

how the hell would skiing with friends have THAT much of an affect on how you ski, like i understand thet it helps a bit, but i push myself more than i do with my friends...

I am the same way, but I just feed off of what my snowboarder friends are doing and interprit into my own skiing, I think it has actually made me a better skiier having to make things up myself than just watching other skiers. skiing with other skiers isnt as fun for me, except waiting for those bastards to strap their dildos on. I fucking hate waiting for that shit, snowboarders need to get back into clickers.

I dont know that it does, I dont do it. But I heard others say how much it helps. I was just wondering if anyone else skiis by themselves and how do they learn?

The only freestyle team is for 14 and under. And they dont do park stuff. They do moguls, slalom, powder, and they went off really small cliffs one time.

i think that by yourself is better. You can do whatever you want w/o people saying "you suck". Try what your comfortable with and just progress onm your own.

I guess you are right. A few days ago I was up with some boarders and this 8th grader was doing backflips and 540s on a really small kicker. (They havent opened the park yet) It got me excited, so I tryed even harder to out do him.

Arizona, I live by Sunrise Ski Resort, it is pathedic. We have nothing but man made snow. And that only covers 17 percent of the mountain. Have you seen the capital one commercial? That is what it is like here.

i ski with some boarders and when they do shit i copy them and stuff. they can push you jsut as much as skiers and more in some cases like on rails. they do weird crooked stuff then you go for something similar

I love skiing by myself and do it most of the time. Get some good music that gets you pumped.. and that's all you need.

you need to want to get better and be willing to try stuff and put the pressure on yourself. My advice to help with that would be music music musci

yeah i have the same problem, i have friends that ski and snowboard but they dont do any park at all. ive tried to make them come with me and try rails and shit but once they fall once they leave. its sucks. i have the same problem because i find it harder to progress when im skiing alone.

dude i so agree, i find skiin wit skiers much better. i find u learn way more when you can buzz of your friend who has just gone and hit something sick. you can play add-on too (you know he does a 3, you do a 3. he does a 5, you do a 5.) Skiin with snowboarders is cool and stuff and i've done it for years but its way way way more fun rippin wit your own breed! Look in the parks, all the sick skiers r in a small group doin trains over kickers. The rippers of each breed dont mix!

oh man i try to mellow... the worst part is he complemented me on it, then fucking stole the shit...bastard

you can get better, i dont ski with other skiers, i ski with 2 horrible snowbaorders that really suck

if you ski with people that you are beter than, whenever you do a trick, theyll think its good and they go "ooohhh" and that gets you motivated to go bigger, thats how i get better

I've taught myself basically everything I know. When I was younger there were kids throwing 3s and 7s and stuff and I looked up to them but theyre washed up druggies now and I ride with all boarders, so they do something gnarly and I've gotta up the gnar factor even if it is a totally different sport. They understand how riding rails on skis is much more difficult when they can 50/50 as a bail so to speak but yea I feed of boarders, they are super fun to ride with and I ride alone too, like the other day learning switch onto rails, I was by myself hiking a single flat rail for a good few hours trying new stuff on it... its all about your level of ambition

all the snowboarders I ski with rock, and we switch it up sometime for some laughs, and I kill it on the board fa show got the steez

I don't think you can really really get better without skiing with others who push you. I love skiing alone, and still go for it, but it's awesome to see how other people are creative and hit stuff. It doesn't matter if they are snowboarders or skiers.
