how big are your skis on you? or how tall are they supposed to be?

thats about a good place to tell from...with your ski boots on would be better tho...i had 163 from last yr but i was like 5'7 and now im 5'11 so im gonna get much longer ones...but i dont have a choice b/c they were stolen

it also depends on what youre using them for and what your preference is. longer skis for pow, shorter for park in general...

6' tall, ski on 179 (really 183s, they're PEs) so they're about as tall as me

i like mine taller then me if you want to ski real all mountain and powder and stuff they should be, otherwise it is whatever size you feel best on

i'm 5'6' on 164's (normally)

they come up to my mouth/nose , that's a little small, but completely acceptable.

I'm just under 6' I pick skis more based on weight and stiffness than length. I have a pair of 171, 168, 145, and I forget how long my 04 rossis are. tallest ski I own. general rule of thumb for park is lips is good height. racing GS just above head, bumps = chin, powder = fat and just above head.

my '04 darksides have about 3-6' on me......

they kinda suck when i'm trying to spin, but i suck at that anyway.....

but when i'm actually skiing the mountain, they are sick little puppies...

i think that once you need to have your bindings set to advanced (by the shop, where i only get em stoneground now...) then your skis should be as tall as you

im 5'1 and ski 165s right now. they are about 2-3 inches over my head without boots on and with boots about 1 inch over my head

if u want slalom skis, u prolly should get em as short as legally possible... for GS, they should be about forehead to about the same height as you... for park, mine were about my chin and now for big mtn, they are a lil taller then me, even though i wish they were a bit longer...

i'm 5'3' and i have 169 teneighties and 172 mo'ships. so with boots on the 10's are like 2 inches taller than me and the motherships are 3.

as you can see, there's a huge difference

i'll use myself for an example

i'm 5'6' and ride 164's, about up to my nose

someone else is 5'6' and rides 177 or 179's....

just personal preference

for me, it isn't even really that, it's whatever I can get the cheapest and feel most comfortable with. I have skogens too, but I'm very comfortable on my 1260's (the 164's) and like riding them, however soon I'll have to move up in size.

It varies from ski to ski. One ski you can handle easy in 180, but another ski with the same guy which is only 170 hasn't to fit. It's just how aggressive, light or easy to turn they are. Try the skis before buying them and you'll get your personal feeling that will fit or not fit with your rate.
