How bad is remounting skis

I have a pair of ‘21 K2 Press with a recommended center mount on them. I was thinking of getting them true center mounted but I’ve heard that it can really decrease the lifespan of a ski. They already have a crack going across the nose and several knicks along the sidewall. Do you think its worth it or just leave the bindings a few cm behind center?

Most people say that you shouldn't mount a ski more than 3 times because at that point you've drilled ~(x24) 9mm x 3.5mm holes in each ski which is going to cause some loss of flex pattern and introduce potential for delam if the holes weren't filled properly - plus you've probably ran out of room for another good mount at that point. But as long as you make sure your next mount is 1+ cm away from all holes you should be totally fine to remount.

DO NOT REMOUNT

skis are made of wood and a couple composite layers. The thing is, those composite layers store a little bit of chemical energy inside them every time the ski flexes. This usually isn’t an issue unless you start drilling multiple holes in the ski after you’ve already put flexed them a couple times. This introduces oxygen into the system causing the composite to heat up and the wood to combust. So, unless you want your ski to burst into flames, DO NOT DRILL HOLES IN YOUR SKI

This is why I only use duct tape bindings

It's fine from a structural standpoint...if you're not going to do the mount yourself I'm not sure it makes sense to spend whatever your shop charges ($50-80) to remount a pair of K2 press that have some issues already? Might want to save the cash for your next pair of skis?
