how bad are 1080s ?

i hear everyone talk about spaceframes and how much they don't keep their flex. do they really go to waste after 10 days? cuz they are still pretty expensive and for that much money hey should be pretty good. shouldn't they?

as i understand they are great in park but the foam core sucks ass after a while? thats what I gather, i dont own them or anything...

It's the foam core that sucks. They may be fine on the rails (I have not skied them) but that would be about it. After about 2 weeks, you will give up on them.

when i demoed a pair they had awesome pop (it was also the first twin tip i ever tried), but it was real shaky at high speed. i thought they were fun as shit in the moguls though because they were so bouncy

The general review that everyone gives is that they're possibly the best ski you can own if you only plan on skiing for a month.

i'm a lighter person and it took the whole season for them to soften up, but they ski outside the park beautifully. I don't know what strode i think, means by shaky at high speeds, i had nothing of the sort. In the park beautiful, and they're holding up well. I have one cracked edge, and the tails are beat up from losers in the lineup hitting the tails on my skis. I wouldn't buy them again, but they're a great ski for one season

ive ridden them a few times, i rode my friends and i hated em so much, they felt really cheap compared to my pe's. like i felt like i was going to snap them in half. they also didnt hold an edge too well. i dunno, i guess its personal preferance

martock, i'm a pretty big guy, and when i took them at full speed they were kind of unstable....i leaned into a hard turn and they yelled at me like i was sodomizing them, so i had to slow down

i have some and they are really nice. liek some of you other guys said, you get shaky at i speeds and something in moguls, but thats mostly the same with most twips...but i sued these a while this year and they seem almost as good as i bought them

they ski great. seriously. dont beleive all the shittalkers because most of them havent skied on them anyways.

^ true that, everyone just thinks that if you don't have armada's or 4frnt's they suck. the fact of the matter is that 1080's are one of the best skis on the market right now. even if you don't believe that i love my 10's and i prefer them over my old lines.

Its true they do suck ass at high speeds, I was on the pocket rocket 185's yesterday and thought i was going to die when i got above probably 40mph, yeah they are scary going fast id get a different ski for taht reason alone. And anyone that says they didnt notice them being shaky at speeds(like martockfreestyler) probably were pussys who werent going very fast.

also i was wondering if i should go long with the size.

i'm about 5'7' and 115 lbs. should i go for the orange 181s? or stay with the silver 171s?

If they're park skis, 171, if not, 181. But use your own judgement, you know how you like to ski better than we do. Personally I think 181 is a perfect length for a ski.

man don't call me a pussy. maybe the reason i can carve better and use them at high speeds is because i raced for 4+ years before quitting and going into newschool. I can out carve anybody on them, and if i weighed more i could beat you down the hill too. They are perfectly stable at any speed i've obtained.

^if you weighed more they wouldn't have been stable enough. they're really a fine ski for lighter people, but i weigh almost 200 lbs that's why they became unstable

I have them, I weigh about 140.. they were my first twin-tip but I demo'd a couple others. They are probably the best first pair I could have asked for, learned everything on them, but I plan on getting new skis next year and it won't be the 1080's.. I just want to give another company a chance.

i hated them when i tried my friens. to flexy

not really a total newbie, but i lost all my posts, and ya, I left newschoolers for a while

I just remember them being waay to soft for my liking, but a lot of people like them so I guess it's just your personal taste...

They do wear out fast because of the foam core though, especially if you ski on them everyday for a season or two...

On my way to goddom

I had em but they broke when i didnt latch the ski rack on my car.... stupid i know... but they snapped in half they were really good tho when they were one piece

Get some garage sales man, they have some sweet Olin Mark IV's and shit. those are flexy but stiff and will last another 30 years

Itz just for the BUDDERMENT nigga, now represent or get bent!

I have the 2002? Vincent Dorions and i havent have any problems with them. they ride great on the park and all around the hill. im not going to get them next season because i want a wider ski, but after riding my 10s hard for a season they are still in great condition. i havent had any flex problems either

there sweet when there new but after a season of abuse they turn into noodles. i think it also depends on how heavy u r, someone like me that about 200 would trash um but if your really light they would prob last longer.

anyoe know if the pro models are guna be wood core?

i've skied on several pairs of the silver 171s that my friend have. they're super fun and light. i like them for carving switch. and they can go anywhere on the mountain at any speeds.

Too many people are saying that these skis only last for a month, this is not true. I have had a pair for two years and they are little scratched up, but still good. If you have never used them before, just shut the hell up because you dont know what your talking about.

me and my friend both have last years 1080s and both of our pairs front tips came apart. he got new ones on warentee and I haven't taken mine in yet. I think that they're probably a good ski. They held up great, aside from the tip, but the bases and edges are great and I slid lots of rails. My only problem is that mine are too small for me and because I'm too big they bounce around alot. Like coming out of a chute or something when actually skiing the mountain and theres all those little bumps, well, my skis were all over the place because they were too light and small.
