How awesome was the park this weekend?

In the rain on Saturday, and sunny skies yesterday.

Park was straight up solid.

First time I can honestly say I am proud to ski at KB.

Sooo lame you wreck'd yourself. You'd LOVE KB now.

Some big jumps, nicely setup rails.

Ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

The vibe in the park yesterday was awesome with all those kids from out-of-town there just killing it. Like that one little kid with the Oakley Crowbar goggles, suchhhhhhhhh sick switch 5 mutes.

Are you the telemarker? lol. I didn't exactly stick around you guys too long until my g/f came. But yea, the vibe kicked ass. Everyone was sessioning the f-d for the comp, and i didn't join. but the skiers were still warming up so I just poached it. lol. good times, good times.

yeah, the park was amazing. it so sock to see a tele guy riding park. i tele myself but i cant ride park for my life.

-heroin is not for your food-

one good weekend and then they just stop maintaining stuff... was this a surprise? I have nothing bad to say about that bottom jump though, its been a very close friend this winter.

that last jump was epic, im glad i got the chance to hit it once before the end of the season.

taken from TB, the 2nd and 3rd jumps

yeah, but it was strange since the 1st jump had one kicker, the 2nd had the smaller kicker on the left and larger on the right while the 3rd had the larger on the left and the smaller on the right. So, if you wanted to do either both small or both large jumps you had make a big turn. It was not that bad, just annoying

dam the parks out here look nice. I ski gore, but im going to UB so i'll be skiing with you guys for most the season. Management wouldn't let us do shit with our parks, our biggest jump was 25ft, and they were sketched with that. Anybody here do park crew and looking for a little help? oh and whats the trees situation like out here. I know the mountains are a little smaller, but any good glades here or HV?

Well, the park is decent at KB. It suffers greatly from lack of maintenance though.

I want to be on park crew so i can make a difference, but somehow I doubt that happening since it's moreso a buddies-first type crew.

I'm friendly with the crew, and they're chill to me, but I doubt I can be official crew though.

glades don't exist at western ny ski areas. if you want to ski trees you're better off hiking somewhere, if you can find a place steep enough with snow. there's a few spots, but i can't quite remember where they are.

Well HV has some glades, but it's all low-angle BS. Lame.

I wish I knew of some places to hike and ski that are untracked. I could see much fun being had. Could be real deep midwinter.

If ANY of you know some secret WNY BC for some wicked powder days, let me know. I'm up for exploring.

Bluemont isn't too bad. I haven't gone all the way up, but it looked like it just got better the farther up you go.

how far out of springville is bluemont? on a pow day would it be a good idea to drive there, hike up, and ski some pow pow tree lines

I don't think it's fair outside of Springville down 39.

I'd be interested in checking it out. Maybe I'll head down sometime this fall to scout it before the snowfalls to see if it's worth it.

Guess the placde had 800 feet vertical. Way more than KB, and more than HV even. Shame it closed up.

Nope. I'd be up for it though. I just wonder if they have any steep stuff that isn't overgrown real bad. That's what I'm looking for!

if you take 240 into springville take a left and the stoplight where the pizza place is. a few miles down there is right turn with a bridge, take that and turn left once across the bridge. you will see an old lodge there. there is really no place to park but on the road so make sure its in a place where cars and plows will see if because a lot of people drive kind of fast on that road.

its not too overgrown at all actually, if you go after a few decent snowfalls, or one big one you should be fine.

any places that would be good with a weekend of work clipping it out? It sounds like there are a lot less places to ski out here then what im use to, but you guys get a lot more snow then upstate. If we get some good dumps I'd definitly want to get out of the park, and in the woods.

i can't quite remember. i'm pretty sure it gets steeper as you go up, but you can't see all of it from the bottom. i haven't gotten all the way up. i know there are some ravines and stuff that could be sick there. if you have time maybe head out before the snow and look for some spots, and maybe thin them out if you want to. i think its definitely worth checking out though.

i'm going to be doing that at mad river glen this weekend, clearing brush, and if i see sick spots, my own secret lines and shit. we did that last year, it was so sick.

I'm going there this evening. I'm going to the "summit" I'll try to take a few photos and I'll let you guys know if it's worth the time to check out during the winter.

Okay, went up to Bluemont this evening and hiked to the top.

I really want to go hike it this winter after a big storm. I went to the top, and scoped out some areas. It's not overgrown at all as far as the old trails go.

It's got a solid amount of vert, WAY more than KB, and some much steeper lines down the hill. Theres a few sections that would make for some good glades too, good tree spacing, and a decent pitch.

I took a bunch of pictures and will try to upload them tomorrow.

So I failed at uploading.

My HD at home is getting quite full, nearly to the brim. It's old and small. I need a new HD.

If I can get the laptop for a day at home, I'll get a few select photos up.
