How are the Kartel 106 for East Coast?

What are you looking to do with them?

I was riding them for a while at Big Boulder yesterday, they're fun on groomers, but I was using them to "charge" a few lines under their lift. They float, they're stable, they bust through crud (this was week old crusted over snow). The 106 is really my go to all-mountain ski for the east coast - they can handle pretty much anything the east will throw at them. I probably wouldn't ride them in the park, but I'd consider it on the right day. If you're looking for an all-mountain ski that will be fun on groomers, handle tight trees and fresh snow, I highly recommend them.

I was on them over here at the west and they did very well. Carved nicely, floated nicely, pretty much everything Bwalmer said I'll second. I did however find them to be very enjoyable in the park. But then again my home mountain is pretty much one big kicker for a park. They were nice for "making the mountain my park" which is what I like to do. Also I like a fatter ski so I would ride them in a real park as well. I'd go for it man. Killa ski.

Pretty much everywhere. The tight tree skiing in the east, groomers, off-piste, etc, probably everywhere but the park.

Definitely going to pick up a pair.

Are they relatively stiff skis?

IMO they are kinda stiff. But can be soo playful if you want them to be. That's one reason I like them. I can butter pretty easily on them with the rocker, but they charge very well too.

Yeah, kinda. They're playful, but stable is more how I like to put it. I was hitting some smaller drops (maybe 8 feet) and even if you land a bit backseat they don't wash out easily. Basically they charge hard, but can still butter around and are forgiving.

you say you wouldn't ride them in the park.. but.. could you ride them in the park? I imagine your pretzel game would be a bit weaker. thoughts?

You certainly could. Kutcher spent last summer on either the Prester, FR or Kartel 106 at Windells. Things would be a bit slower, but certainly doable. I just said I wouldn't because I prefer the FR and the Prester in the park. I say these skis are for the all-mountain skier who likes to lap the park every now and then.
