How about we don't use the word Cab!

How about you stop being a little girl and not worry about terminology, its no like there is a freeskier dictionary defining what is what
 
For the last time. Cab refers to a Switch frontside spin on a snowboard, NOT just riding switch. The word doesnt work for riding switch so lets stop using it!
 
holy crap I saw a guy take a whole run "cab" today, he threw a "cab" 10 in the end. I hope I learn "cab" 7's this year as that i learned non "cab" 7's last year. just regular.
 
yeah but this is skiing. not snowboarding. it doesnt matter. you can do half-cabs on bikes and you cant spin frontside.
 
but cab is clearly a derivitive from skateboarding, migrating to snowboarding migrating to skiing. it just doesnt make sense and is a HUGE corruption of the word. why not be creative and come up with a unique word that only skiing can claim. it would further legitimise newschool as its own thing instead of bastard child of snowboarding
 
i kind of agree but thats just to rediculous of a topic to adress. cab comes from steve cabalerro, but theres like a million other things we jacked from skateboarding. even mute grabs are named after a skater
 
OR we could say cab is switch, spinning natural side. like switch left spinning for me. this way cab would still mean cab
 
whats the big fucking deal? its a name for something. i mean, does it really affect the sport that much??? and plus our sport IS bits and peices of skateboarding and snowboarding, our culture is all really similar too. so stop bitching. say what you want and dont critizize others for saying something you think is dumb.

In my books this is how it goes starting from zero spins and up.

Zero spin is known as a zero spin. Period.

leftways 180 is known as a 180. Rightways 180 is known as Air to Fakie.

Ofcourse if you naturally spin to the right, then the whole 180 terminology would be reversed. Leftways is Air to fakie Rightways is 180.

Switch 180 is known as backwards 180 both directions pertain to it.

Switch 360 is backwards 360.

Anything above backwards 360 is known as cab.

Thats my books. You just read chapter 1.

Cab = switch unatural

Switch = switch natural (normal dir)

Fakie = when you land you say fake (switch cork 720 to fakie or switch air to fakie)

Try say switch unatural when your alittle wet in your mouth and youl get why we can call it that. and common, how dumb doesnt switch unatural sounds? its so many letters
 
didnt knew that cab is switch unnatty, and the problem is, that other people arent using it for sw unnatty but for switch in general,

You're all morons. Use cab if you fucking want to or don't, whatever. It doesn't have anything to do with snowboarding either. It come from a great skateboarder by the name of Steve Caballero who started doing fakie 360's in vert ramps with no grab. I won't get into what fakie on a skateboard is so either you know it or you don't. Then they started using fakie-front 180's on flat as Half-cabs, and full cabs on flat. Snowboarding picked it up like many years later as switch frontside. So who cares? If the message gets across then good!
 
it isnt that hard.

CAB is backwards unnatural.

Fakie is backwards natural.

Fakie came from skating as did switch, in effect, they are the same thing, but fakie just describes skiing backwards better than switch.
 
I hate the word cab used in skiing its a word ment for skate boarding and trannied over to snowboarding. It sounds like when we use the word cab where tryin to be posers. Like when im ridin with my buddies who mostly board and someone on skis that knows me will come up and say, did you see my cab 3. I'll my buddies will be like is that kid not aware of the fact he skis.
 
i think they should make a pole about it and what ever gets the most votes is what we will call it.
