Hot shoe umbrella?

Just had an idea to protect a dslr from the elements. an umbrella that simply attaches to the hot-shoe of your camera. seems simple enough. the only factor i could see posing harm to the camera is wind catching the umbrella and tossing it. to counteract this i guess you could just add weight to the middle bar of your tripod. what do you guys think?

I'd rather make use of the weather proofing I paid extra for than risk having my 7D fly off the mountain. A water resistant casing is a better idea anyways.

good point. there's also a much bigger liability risk when dealing with "water proofing". not that i know anything about the industry though.
