There is a hot sauce I got from a friend that I have been trying to find for years. It was from a hotel in Zimbabwe that someone gave to me. It was in a small clear plastic bottle with a sticker that says Armadale on it. It had an amazing smoky and hot flavor.

anyone know where I can find this stuff?

I like different hot sauces for different types of food but I've been really liking the SASO original hot sauce for most things lately.

Also, your take on Cholula is miserable and Franks is easily the best readily available wing sauce you can buy.

The fact that 3 people in this thread said tabasco has me jumping ship already.

One of the saddest days in my life was in NZ. Couldn't find shit for spice around me. I was craving some heat. I made it about a month and a half and finally broke down and bought a bottle of tabasco. I felt like everyone was staring at me while I waited in line. When I got home I threw some into the food when my roommates weren't looking. I didn't want them to see what I had become. It was a real low point in my life. I can tolerate tabasco more after that, but I try to avoid it.

Idk, I guess it's a preference thing but I'm just not a big fan of Tabasco.

That said I'll rock tapatio, sriracha, el yuc, chohula, franks, and other normal ones from the store pretty often so it's not like I'm only hunting for weird shit. I just think tabasco overpowers the fuck out of any food you put it on. If you're really trying to turn up the heat your meal becomes tabasco flavored.

Maybe im just weird.

That said I'll try anything new. Have gotten some good shit from friends. Bought stuff at farmers markets, phish lot, random stores. I'd love to try and make the perfect hotsauce for myself but I'm lazy and I would probably do a shitty job honestly. I'll usually just grab what's around me. Pretty open.

Yeah Tabasco is way overrated for sure. Same with red hot although that's more tolerable on a regular basis

This stuff is the best. Made by the tambourine man himself.

Tabasco is only good on a few things, but i love the taste of it.

I found some yellow, green, and black sriracha that is absolutely out of this world. If you ever see that stuff, make sure to get it.

Yucateco, Crystal, and sriracha are always in my cupboard...

But Melindas scotch bonnet is my new favourite for putting on pizzas...

Kroger habenero with 6-7 Carolina reapers stuffed in us my #1 , franks red hot wing sauce for eggs and Tabasco Chipotle with some reapers stuffed in for steak. Huy fong siracha for teriyaki

The jalapeno, habanero, and chipotle, mentioned above, tabascos are completely different than the regular one. Much more palatable in general. By that I mean they're pretty tasty. Plus tabasco is one of those hot sauces that pairs well only with certain foods. Comparable example, I could chug Sriracha but I think it's pretty meh when it's on Mexican food.

Also unpopular opinion: Cholula is overrated.

I almost forgot about yucateco, that shit is good. So is everything Melinda's - their habenero ketchup is fire.

The green habanero version of el yucateco is so damn good. Also cholula's chipotle; not too spicy but kinda unique and tastes so good. Sriracha is a staple but used for different things. Just tried this mango habanero one from arizona gunslinger that was pretty good too, might make it a regular one on the shelf.

1. Elijah's Xtreme Carolina Reaper

2. Da Bomb Varieties (Beyond Insanity, Ground Zero, The Final Answer)

3. Secret Aardvark

4. El Yucateco

5. Bravado Pineapple & Habanero (more so sweet)

A little off topic but if you like hot sauce then this a pretty good bbq sauce to try.

It's pretty simple to make at home as well, just mix franks red hot with some yellow mustard and add a little honey if you want it sweeter.

I like hot stuff but I’ve only had bad expirences with hot sauce, because I don’t like the vinegar aspect. What should I try?

Cholula is my go to. It tastes great, but I wish it was hotter. I need to find a restaurant with a hot sauce bar and just try out a bunch of shit.

spiciest shit ive ever had ???

Trader Joe's jalapeno pepper hot sauce is a good all-rounder, not hot enought that you are in major pain but enought that its interesting. I put that shit on everything

I haven't found anything in your average grocery store (safeway etc.) that's "hot" as in you need to recuperate between bites

Franks is literally just ground cayenne in vinegar. By far the most overrated hot sauce. I put that shit in with tabasco for quality. For the generic stuff siracha is usually my go to, but I think the best hot sauces are usually the ones the local mex restaurant sells. I'm also not a big fan of the ultra-spicy ones, if I'm more focused on how spicy the sauce is than how my food feels, not a win in my book. I'm kind of a pussy for real spicy stuff though so power to you if thats your jam.

I'd love to find some small batch stuff...

I'm usually not a huge sriracha fan but my GF makes some killer Gochujang tho, I stick on the side of Mexican style sauces for the most part.

You ever fuck with the Valentina Extra hot?

Yeah i feel ya. I like siracha on burgers and fries and stuff. Idk different sauces different stuff.

Somebody was hustling hit sauce on here like 10 years ago. Have had a few friends at restaurants back in NY making me shit. Found a dude with a hot sauce company on phish lot in Charleston a few years back. I feel like im way more likely to support if small batch. Ill give anything a whirl.
