Hostess is no more :(

hmmm...checked out ebay and looks like people are as stupid as I anticipated...will make bank on my endeavor.

isn't shipping expensive?

Also-- link-- because I googled and there were only two places selling them.

My buddy used to work there doing maintenance for them. Got laid off last summer. Place has been about to die for a while now.

Also twinkies will probably still be around after the nuclear holocaust wipes us off the face of the earth, Those things can survive some fucking shit.

However, Hostess' move will not affect the production of Wonder Bread in Canada, where Weston Bakeries is the licensed trademark holder and bakes the bread with "100 per cent Canadian wheat."

Weston "has no relationship with Hostess Brands' Wonder bread, so Canadians can rest assured that freshly-baked Canadian Wonder bread will continue to be available in stores nationwide," the Toronto company said in a separate release.

Weston uses the Wonder brand in Canada on white and whole wheat bread as well as on hamburger and hot dog rolls and English muffins.

Hostess Brands' move also won't affect the otherwise-limited use of the Hostess brand in Canada.

Montreal dairy giant Saputo has owned the Hostess brand in Canada since 1999 when it bought parts of food processor Culinar Inc., which in turn had bought the brand's Canadian use in 1993.

The Financial Post reported Friday that Weston would not seek to buy any of Hostess Brands' U.S. assets, and that Saputo declined comment on the same question. Saputo, the Post noted, has not marketed goods such as Twinkies among its Hostess-branded fare in Canada.

here's the source...according to what I've read, saputo owns the hostess brand in canada, and they will continue production of the snack cakes they make which does not include twinkies.

weston owns the wonderbread brand name and will continue making wonderbread.

So it looks like hostess will be available in Canada, but twinkies no more.

cheeper i believe and still good. good substitute for hostess but I will miss the cherry pies and ding dongs

I seriously just went and cleaned out my local store. I scored three box's of twinkies at the original price. Now I am going to sit on these bastards forever.

they told the bakers, if you go on strike, we will go bankrupt and you will all be out of jobs, but those bakers just decided to go on strike anyways. we'll miss you beloved twinkies

Really awful "food".

Probably worse for your body than a lot of drugs out there. I thought they went out of business a while ago. They were laying people off like crazy last summer. Thought that twinkies and other shit already died. Guess not.

well, enough people ate them to keep Hostess going for 80+ years. Twinkies were their most bought item, followed I believe by ding dongs but don't quote me on that.

well see I think you may be better off to sell them within the next week. See there is probably a mad panic to get them, because they're going...going...gone. But someone will buy the Twinkie brand (lil Debbie, or that Canadian company Saputo) and Twinkies will likely get made again. It's probably a passing thing. If I'm wrong and they don't get picked up by anyone and they're gone as we know it, then yeah, you might be able to get quite a bit in 6 months. Careful though-- the tickle me elmo went for like 50k when they were sold out...later they were worth nothing.

I bought 15 boxes of twinkies....im listing them on ebay.

well, looks like twinkies are selling for between 45.00 and 100.00/box on ebay.

Now I'm expecting that my order I put in online will be refunded and I'll get some email like "I'm sorry we were unable to fulfill your order"

There are mixed reports on whether twinkies will continue in Canada. Looks like everything will continue except maybe twinkies. Check a store out today though and see if all the Canadian stores have been wiped out too?

people are fucking retards.

just because hostess has gone bankrupt does not mean twinkies will not be made anymore. there is a large demand for the product, someone will pick up the recipe and continue to make/distribute them.
