Horrible ski jump crash (nordic)

talk about a broken leg. that second one was crazy to, thats dumb though because its not like he fucked up the course just wasnt long enough.

actually he did technically. in that you have to put 2 skis on the ground at the same time, which he did. then fell. he probably just lost a few for points. after you go past the 440 meeter line tho, it doesent matter. maybe its 450. i forget.

But honestly, 250 meters to flat would kill you, even with all that speed. Those guys are nuts.

It seems to me that you could make a jump slope like that for newschool tricks and all. You would have to give the jump a more concave-ish kinda landing, so you basically just cruise over flat and the slope by no more than like 15 feet. Sorta like the Gap Session jump. The only issue would be overshooting, cause it would be like hitting a wall if you just overshot the landing and impacted on the flat, like the guy in the vid did.

when i went to whiteface, i went into lake placid to watch all the ski jumpers training...pretty crazy. they were all like 13/14/15 which is nuts. They all have way more balls then I do, thats for sure.

yeah man, looks like when u drop a tip in the air at that speed they are foils and pretty much no amount of strength will allow you to recover. That second guy tracked out like a base jumper, freaking ridiculous. thats not skiing, thats flying a glider.

i thnk that is why grabs are important cause that first dude looked like shit ferom the very beginnin if he grabbed he could have stayed compacted as opposed to flailin, catchin a tip and thus being fucked massively

that has got to be one of the scariest things i've seen done on skis, like yeah falling on some tech chute in the backcountry is one thing like thats almost impossible to control. If you mess up in a controlled setting it seems impossible to live

that is pretty gnarly, anyone know or heard what state he is in now, this was posted ages ago along with the other guy who got so uch speed and airtime that he flew to far and almost landed on the flat.

Something tells me that he will never ski again. If you had a crash that bad and had the chanc to ski again, would you, i dont think that i could, i would just be bricking myself the whole time and the experience would become unenjoyable.

Shit that would of hurt. I read somewhere that this was the day (or week) after the hurricane force winds that swept accross continental Europe and so he was just caught by a gust of wind that would of unbalanced him causing him to crash. Crazy people who ski jump anyway (especially the ones I saw in Moscow doing it on a dry ski slope - with death matting - in the summer)...

Update: Apparently the dude got out of his coma, and is out of the hospital. However, he's got A LOT of rehab to do from the brain and body injury, and he still does not remember the event.

Yes it is Nordic Ski Jumping

1st one like a fly hitting a windshield

2nd one Props to him, it looks like he got a gust or uplift of air at the end. He was about 2in away from total flat his back or knees must hurt.

Jesus Motherfucking Christ was the first thing to come out of my mouth after seeing that. Good luck for recovery. :(
