Hornbeck has made shuffles the it trick of 2010/11

hornbecks on his jumps were waaay better than any ive seen so far. he pretty much said heres just the tip and then did a quick 180

Yeah unless you are wearing 6 perfectly layered Rainbow tall-tees with a rare 4XL Jiberish Jacket with a custom 5XL Saga Jacket, you really don't have the steeze or the skills to do them.

ive never really liked them, and i used to think that they looked really stupid and pointless. however, they look so ill when hornbeck and cole drexler do them. a lot of people can do em, but in my opinion only a handful of people can do them properly and make them look good. but thats just my opinion.

I thought it was called a deadlung. Max Hill and Coal Drexel have been doing them forever. There was even a CASG interview on the main page a while back where they were talking about deadlung landings

yah this has come up a bunch of times, he's been doing them a lot for at least the last 2-3 years
basically what it comes down to is Hornbeck makes them look good cause he's Hornbeck and his style is way out there...unless you add your own cool touch to it youre just gonna look like an asshole if you try to copy that style, mostly cause he's found some way to make it not look like a mistake, which is what it looks like when almost ANYONE else does it

A lot of skiers have been doing shuffles for a few years now, it's really not that new and Hornbeck even claimed he didn't invent it.

Deadlung sounds like a name for someones lung who smokes too much.

But what a weird name for a forced landing ticky thingy...Who comes up with this shit?

After a quick Google search apparently deadlung is the nickname of a snowboarder who smokes weed.

But thank you for the sarcastic compliment :)

i guess the OP didn't want to say that hornbeck invented them. he just wanted to point out, that many people will learn/do them this coming season.

just because hornbeck/the jiberish movie gets more hyped than any other skiers who did them before

Coal Drexler: We got the idea for the "shuv-it" landing (the "deadlung" as we call it) through snowboarding, more specifically from Mark Edlund, who bangs them out pretty hard in a few of Technine's movies. We have been doing them for the past few years, just haven't really dropped any edits with a deadlung landing in it until this past season. And I'm assuming the same goes for Hornbeck; that guy kills and is super innovative. With a deadlung you never know if the skier is going to land one way, or revert back the other way. Keeps things fresh for now but that won't be the fact next year so don't hope to see too many deadlungs out of us. As for our naming of it, Deadlung is Edlund's nickname so it just seemed appropriate.

straight up. y'all need to stop copying and have your OWN style. its ok to have influences, but emulating pros isn't going to progress the sport. I have my own little stylie tricks that are part of MY style, and I started doing them because they felt good and natural to me at the time. As Ice Cube, Ren, and the late Eazy E would say, EXPRESS YOURSELF

although somewhat trolly i agree, take inspiration from snowboarding instead of hating on it all the time

Progression of the Shifty..... and unique style.... emphasis being on unique. Delorme / Hornbeck... - who needs dubs and trips and shit when you have that style - leave the crazy flips to JO and Sammy etc.... leave the pure style to Delorme / Hornbeck. Here is where the division in park skiing is going to occur, between the comp skiiers and the segment skiiers generated by the need to land the most tech tricks in comps as opposed freedom of expression that just lapping a park/mtn with a camera has, catching all those little nollies, presses etc. Style. It's very true what Hornbeck was talking about in Right back where we started about the similarities with Skateboarding and just skating street etc... as opposed to skating park / comps etc.

That is all...
