The 5th annual Hoot is at Boyne Mt. Saturday, March 6th. It is an open slopestyle event with three divisions of athletes: beginner, amateur, and pro. The pros will split an $1800 cash purse, amateurs will compete for sweet prizes like Salomon skis, and beginners will compete for prizes and recognition. The schedule is as follows:

-practice all day Friday and Saturday morning until about 10 to 10:30

-registration Friday night 7:30 to 8:30 and Saturday morning 7:30 to 9:45 in the Civic Center

-mandatory competitor's meeting, bottom of course by RedBull tent at 10:30

-comp starts after competitor's meeting

-finals at 2:00

Here is some other important information:

-all competitors must sign waiver

-competitors under 18 must have a parent present to sign for them at registration

-helmets are required

-inverts will not be allowed, competitors purposefully putting their feet above their head will be disqualified

-qualifier will determine skiers who advance to the final round through scored runs

-finals will be single elimination head-to-head format in each division

Diffenent from last year, there will be no snowboard slopestyle. Remember though that the Huck Finn will have skis and snowboards under the lights on Saturday night. RedBull is the primary sponsor... lots of free RedBull!!! Smith and Salomon are also sponsoring the event with swag. Luke and Adam Schrab are completely rebuilding and modifying the current terrain park for the event. It should be huge with lots of rails.

Any questions?

im prolly coming, 1 question, if i get there saturday morning i still have time to register right? and any practice time? i think ill enter beginner

there will be no formal pipe comp this year, but the pipe will be freshly groomed and open for business. the pipe is directly above the slopestyle course, so gnarly tricks will be visible. one other thing about the Hoot slopestyle, the purse will only be $1500, sorry about the misleading number earlier.

we began construction/rebuilding of the terrain park today... let's hope for a sunny day with fast snow 'cuz this course is looking sick!

tommorrow we will begin the big air construction, we are planning a huge table with three types of jumps, one huge, one medium, and one very small, but fun and safe. we are also planning a hip-type of jump on the side of the table.

hey 720skiguy, read it a little closer, it says you can register saturday 7:30-9:45 and that the comp starts after the meeting at 10:30

i like to play poggs

if its unnatural its dirty

there will be practice time on saturday morning. register early and you will get the most practice time possible.

unfortunately, if you are under 18, you will need a parent or legal guardian present either friday night or saturday morning to sign the liability waiver.

yeah, you should be alright at nine.

just finished the slopestyle tonight, everything is HUGE! the biggest Hoot has ever had! lets still hope for good weather.

so far the sweetest hit is a rainbow rail/flat rail transfer. bring your rail skis!
