Hoodies while skiing?

How many of you use "normal" hoodies on the hill. (like tall but not any waterproof)

I found this super sale on urban classic tall hoodie. Could i use it on the hill?

If you use, what do you usually wear under it? how many layers, and what?

And yes, i'm also getting a proper jacket too so don't worry about that.

k+ For good and helpful answers

It comes down totally to the weather. If its a warm sunny day and your just lapping the park yeah it's fine. I find though if I'm skiing fast all round the mountain the lack of any sort of wind stopper makes them not as good as a shell jacket. So yeah if your just lapping the park on a nice day it's great but if your skiing the mountain a nice shell is better.

Thanks.

In finland winters are super cold and hoodie and even shell might be too cold for proper skiing.

I suppose that just more layers. And wait for the spring.

And yea sun comes down really earlyy so hoodie is only for mornings.

I wear one without problem almost all the time. You should be good as long as there is no rain/snow. For layers I'll usually wear 2 hoodies, or a windbreaker then a hoodie (or vice versa on rainy/snowy days)

For Finland I would think a good shell and a nice down inner jacket woul be good. A nice down jacket is great. You can get them so they are not too bulky but they keep the heat in so well. Cover that with a shell and that's your waterproof and wind stopper sorted too. Won't be too bulky and the bonus is when it does get warm you can just get rid of the inner jacket. I prefer doing that to an insulated jkt as with those when its warm your stuck with a hot jkt.

Thanks for all the answers!

So some base layer(s), windstopper and softshell.

Any good softshell brands or sites? Something like semi long/baggy?

Armada have a couple if inner layers as do Oakley. Other good brands are salomon, arc teryx, marmot not tall brands but good quality and if its under your jacket no one will see it anyway.

You need some serious layers to make a hoodie a good shell. Even than If its snowing or anything at all its out, and for me if its under 25F its out too. Not to mention windy days. Theres a reason companies like Saga make outershells that are water resistant/wind proof that look like hoodies.

That's kinda what i'm also looking for.

Saga would be perfect but there is only like 1 or 2 shops in finland that sell saga, and they're only jackets and pants.

If someone can find "hoodie" like that in europe it would be awesome.

Oh sorry I thought you were asking for inner layers as you said soft shell. You want a shell jkt not a soft shell. All companies make goo shells and they are usually the top level of outerwear they make so go to a few shops an try some stuff in and see what fits well and what you like the look of And price wise works for you.

A light weight down/synthetic insulated jacket to go underneath is a quality suggestion. I'd recommend the Haglofs Barier jacket (synthetic) it's low profile, light weight and it's not bulky at all, I often wear it underneath my shell when I'm skiing mid winter.

There are saga dealers in Europe, the one I know of is in Germany, but there are more just look at the dealers page on their site

Oh sorry, i thought that you meant like hoodie soft shell type :D Sry for not knowing but what does that jkt stand for?

yeah, i will get a proper jacket. And i have good experience on inner shells too, but thanks for all answers!

k+ for all!
