Hood vs. Winter Park

I found out yesterday that my annual ski trip this year has two possible destinations: Mt. Hood or Winter Park. I know some stuff about both but want more opinions to help me make an informed decision. For instance, which has a better park? I know WP has the railyard and Dark Territory, but Hood has a great park as well. Which is better? Also, which is better for things other than park, such as big mountain? Any Hood or WP locals opinions would be greatly appreciated. Help me out here.

WP has some decent jumps in Dart Territory from 40-65ft. Not to many rails though. WP also has a super nice pipe if your into that. Mary Jane at WP is awesome on pow days, tons of drops and good lines through the trees. I've never been to hood but im sure Hood has a better park then WP but WP for pow skiing would be better than Hood.

i honestly dont know much about hood in the winter, but i went over the summer and it was really awesome. i also heard mad stories of cool shit from the winter, so i would assume its awesome.

I've heard Hood's weather is really shitty a lot of the time in the winter so it could mean really adverse conditions if you only came for a week or something. But that also means the snow is insane. I've heard because its so exposed a lot of the time you can't even ride the upper stuff cause the lifts are closed. I haven't actually ridden there in the winter either so I can't say for myself.

???hood for pow, WP gets like 350inches a year, hood gets like 500. if you're gonna ski hood i'd say meadows has the best terrain, and it kinda changes every year between meadows and t-line who has the best park.

Been skiing Hood for a while now. In the winter I ski Mt. Hood Meadows. (Although, this year I'm in Utah) Really good pipe, a lot of rails, benches, boxes, etc. As far as hits go, it all depends on whether they are getting obliterated or not. Last year there was like a month where there were no jumps whatsoever because they just got buried each night.

And yes, Hood is the tallest peak around for miles so it gets windy. Make sure you have a bandanna or something to cover your face. It can get gnarly sometimes.

Ski Bowl across the street from Timberline has night skiing that goes super late and some good looking features up top. For pow at Mt Hood I would stay away from Timberline because its stupid flat. Mt Hood Meadows and Ski Bowl would be good though.

Winter park is really fun, in the rail yard they have lots of rails and down in dark territory they have pretty nice jumps along with the sickest (down flat down flat down). Winter park also has some of the sickest pillow lines in CO along with all of berthoud pass.

Wow i_like_powder is way wrong. Hood is host to five different resorts- Meadows, Timberline, Ski Bowl, Summit, and Copper Spur. Don't forget where Hood is located, the Pacific Northwest. Yes the Pacific northwest is famed for the largest dumps of pow in North America. Eric Pollard one of the most progressive backcountry skiers grew up skiing Hood. Hard to be a really good pow skier without lots of it. Hood gets more snow than Winter Park, year long season, Meadows and Timberline have some of the best parks built. They were good enough for Sammy Carlson and still are. Colorado though does have a great amount of snow and awesome parks but Winter Park vs. Hood and Hood is the best choice. Much less crowds and everyone that skis there is there to ski not relax.
