industry "hip-hop" which is more like Hip Pop, with beats i could make by tapping a snare drum rapidly with a retarded "crunk" sounding bass in the background.

and the lyrics?! a few songs come to mind when you talk about that deterioration, "this is why im hot" "snap yo fingas" and any "deerty deerty south" repetitive shit i hear everyday on the radio that white girls can sing to.

i just hate this. its gay south, like banjos. stop. and mims is making shit from ny sound like from atl. its not.

Im thinking that a lot of new rap is pretty much made for white people. they know what sells and just make that. its pretty gay

Ya, that's why you have to look underground to find any good rap or hip hop. all the mainstream stuff sucks ass

its funny that you guys claim these people have no talent, first off teh fact is that it is what is selling so it does appeal to certain tastes, the majority taste versus your underground music second of all most of these mainstream artists were at a time battling and such in the underground, and made it through to become very succesful artists. There is a lot of work from alot of people that go into the production of these albums and if you think making those beats with those lyrics and flow is easy as hitting the snare on your drum machine a few time thatn your an idiot. mims beat in this is why im hot is a dope beat. And you dont think these mainstream beats have an impact on more listenable underground rap, think hieroglyphics, clipse, all of which take from mainstream

meh i dont mind it. if it has a good beat n shit i like it. also its fun to dance too, i dont really care about the lyrics

werd. kmd is sick

and i like the binary star reerence "hip-pop"

and yes mainstream hip pop sucks. from what i have heard, there is no good lyrical content. underground is the way to go. the reason mainstream is so hot is because they are run by huge labels that have a lot of power in the music industry in getting it on the air. if the roles switched and big labels were smaller than underground labels, people would like the old underground stuf better. many people who listen to mainstream hip-pop never even hear of any underground artists.

you look at like 2pac and biggie and compare them to the shit thats popular today and realized mainstream hip hop has gone to shit

hip hop= music on the radio for white girls to sing along with like kanye west

rap= tough ass shit made for ganstas by gangstas with lyrical talent

The only people who really ever like it is little junior high girls who set it as their ringtone and sing it obnoxiously wherever they go.

i serriously want to rap. and not even for making money. just so i can say that am able to do it. like i wanna write some shit and record it

there was a documentary that i saw about how the large industries paid off the radio stations to play thier artists and after awhile it grows on people, kinda like you have to be rich to make it big

you can't classify it like that

Hip-Hop is the over-all genre, it was coined ages ago, and cannot apply a specific sub-genre. I say I listen to hip-hop, but I don't listen to any mainstream stuff. Hip-Hop is a genre like Rock, it encompasses heaps of stuff. There are hundred of sub-genres, political rap, instrumental hop-hop, R&B, trip-hop...

I just say that if someone wants to listen to something, let them be, if they like it, they like it, and you don't have to. Nobody's forcing anybody to listen to mainstream stuff.

i kind of agree with that. I love listening to dave mathew's and other bands that are very talented but then when you get into speed metal which takes more talent than Dave i just don't like it.

it was good but it was more of rock style music with some rap it was cool though because you really saw what happened behind the scenes

The best part of "This is why I'm hot" is when they sample a part from "Nuthin but a G-Thang." The rest is pretty much him just repeating the same dumb lines.

there are two ways of looking at the difference between hip-hop and rap

1)

rap: agressive, and faster with more mature content

hip-hop: mellower, with more flowing beats and generally conveys a message

2)

rap: Mainstream, shit you hear on the popular radio stations and MTV

hip-hop: Underground

I personally think that its a little of both.

Its funny cus most of the black kids at my school only listen to radio and MTV. its retarded , i hate all tha mainstream bullshit.

I let people use my ipod or a song for something and they hear music theyve never heard and go ape shit its funy sometimes cus theyre all retarded

word, this is why I'm hot is just despicable. But I thought The Game is also hip-pop...?

anyhow I like it all, gangsta/hardcore rap on one hand, G-unit on the other.

just hook your ipod up to ur car and digg in the internet and find some dope shit. Problem solved

the games not in g-unit

also no its not even hip hop so why would it be hip pop

all his stuff is original, nothing that really repeats itself and the choras doesnnt even repeat itself like that shitty hip hop
