Honest Ski Company Slogans

Yes but when you have the economics of scale and are a global business like they are its very hard to adapt any part of your business in a hurry a lot of the larger ski companies seem to work on a two year product life cycle as well to aid costs for further R&D.

When you are a very small company with a very experienced designer as Jason is you and he will have the backing to do it you can respond very quickly. Its a nice case of a community making a co-lab. However I have pretty much zero interest in any of their products as until they make a Katana or race stock I will stick with my preference.

I don't think it's the economies of scale that would be affected. They'd still produce the exact same amount of skis but on the production possibility they can either make x number of traditional skis or y number of demanded skis or any ratio of the two. As well as allocation of resources, would they really send a team to create a community sourced graphic? Probably not. However if that team can create a graphic which apeals to the community and the wider public then $$$ for said company.

In conclusion, a big company could have a fast turn around from a high demand but choose not to because $$$

I think you're not looking at finer details of transnational corporations. Look at kering group. They own Gucci but also Electric. Although all profits go back to the one company and its share holders Gucci and Electric produce two completely different things marketed at diffetent aspects of society,

@chubby: The difference is that the metrics that drive each varies. Each "parent" company (already an issue there) has different GM, Gross profit, AT profit, MSA, etc targets for every business unit. Each has a target which it needs to meet....if Gucci is under pressure to meet overall AT profit targets what BU do you think is going to get cut?
