Honda problems

to anyone out there that knows about cars can you help me out...i have a 2002 honda accord 4 cylinder with 131000 miles on it (i am the original owner) and i recently put a intake on it and lowered it. now here's my problem, i have NO VTEC anymore like its not working or something when i hit 4 thousand rpms it does not pull ne more just gets real loud even when i put it in neutral it hits 4000 rpm revlimitor when it usto rev out at 6500 to almost 7000. now does any one know what could be or is wrong with it? i am taking it to the shop to get looked at plus have the new parts put on it but im just really curious to what the funk this could be.
 
is your check engine light on? it sounds like you've flipped a code...possibly from a fried o2 sensor...and it has thrown your computer into "safety" mode, i.e. disabled your vtec so you don't blow your shit up.
 
do a search on a honda forum they are usually really helpful and people know their shit. they can help out alot.
 
thanks but i took it to the shop today and it turned out to be a timing belt its pretty much blown lol what can i say 131000 miles on a car in 6 years with out changing it once isnt bad,

even though i only had hondas as my past cars, vtec is just a fancy word to say you engine only have power past 5000rpm

i foun it lolzipop

but aint it nice to always keep it at the cut off.... hum i love hondas
