So another great decision was made in out nation the other day. It is officially legal for homosexuals to marry each other and become a legal couple.

that makes me sick personally. The only province not accepting this is Alberta i think. Thank god at least once province is still heading in the rigth direction

what i dont understand is why the gays want that piece of paper so bad. Half of them are going to split up just like the rest of the population. Is ot so bad to live common-law? must you sign papers to be truly happy?

and the other strange part is that the gay community was outraged that this became law, but i cant remember why, so this part of the post is kinda useless.

well im sure there are lots of good things about being officially married (firstdescent) i.e. if your married your car insurence is cheaper, and im sure there are other things like that.

 
the point of marriage shouldn't be to gain economic benefits, or even to some extent because two people love each other. its to start a family. i don't agree with the law, but its not something to get pissed about, like for instance......the gun registry.

formerly, technicaly, inorder to marry, the law states that you need sexual capacity inorder to consumate the marriage, and technicaly gay people cannot do that. thats why the law was changed

I don't know if you realize but this change doesn't effect anyone but gay people! why should you as a straight guy care?!? they want to be recognized legally as a couple, I'm assuming that it does have a lot of legal implications, inheritance, insurance ect. it's not like their being married under the church which would be a different issue. I don't even think two men or women can be considered common law (untill now I guess) there are legal differences from being single and married and it's not hurting you or anyone else one bit.

i honestly cannot believe that there are still people around who think this is a bad thing - i mean, this doesn't have to affect your life in anyways unless you want it to. how will your day to day life be changed because homosexual couples who have been living together for 15 years and have had marriage ceremonies can now have that little certificate that states that the government of WhateverProvince now recognizes them as married.

you don't have to be HAPPY that homosexuals are now 'allowed' to be married in Canada minus Alberta but no one has any reason to be upset. if you for some odd, odd reason do not agree with homosexuality just don't bother yourself with it.

(of course you can lok to religions for wisdom but in the end to make it fair to all involved parties desicions shouldnt be made based solely on religious reasons, they should be made as a group by everyone)

marriage is supposed to be a union between a man and a woman...why change it? how do gays benefit from it, and how does society benefit from it? we dont, because they dont procreate, they just make controversies and problems, and we need that like a kick in the ass.

hey, if people want to be gay thats not my business. but if they want to use our tax dollars to support their habits which i personally object to, it becomes my business all of a sudden...and by going to court to fight for their whole marriage thing, they are costing us tons of money which could be used for plenty of other more important things. that, my friend, is someting i would call a problem.

as well, in order to be legally married, they need a religious figure of some sort to marry them, and in the christian faith at least, that is not what marriage is for, so ministers wont do it. what if the time comes (and this has already been discussed in courts) where the courts force them to marry gays? that would be changing my religion around, and that is another problem.

you're right, of course they pay taxes, and are equal to the rest of us, but there are other important issues to deal with rather than spending tons of money and focusing on an issue like this.

Well… im not against gay marriage… but the fact is they do cause a little of problems as in spreading AIDS. But putting that apart, they should be allowed to marry but not to kiss in public… that’s horrible. I only saw it in Christina aguileras clip but… frankly… it kinda grossed me out.

I mean no one can actually be angry against them cuz you “discover” your sexual preference, you don’t choose it. And I know cool gay guys. Well, one.
