why is there so much homophobia on this site? everytime sombody thinks someone is stupid, bad at skiing etc. they call them 'gay', 'fag', 'faggot', homo', or in the case or the really bad spellers, 'faygett'.

have any of you heard about racism? it used to be a big problem (and still is in some places) but is slowly becoming less popular. now, homophobia is taking over. it is very similar to racism because it is a form of discrimination against people who are different.

if you said someone skied 'like a black person', you would be called a racist and people would be mad, however, if you say,:you ski like a fag' nobody cares and most just laugh or agree. THIS NEEEDS TO STOP. i know many gay people who have been tormented their whole lives, have no friends, and fear their safety because they were born different. gay people are people too and deserve to be treated as such

hopefully someday we can look back and ask ourselves 'how could people have beed such homophobic assholes back then?' just as we look back on the age of racism.

Wow, i realize many of these replies are ment to be humorous and simply antagonize the original post, but I still can't help but be REALLY disapointed in the reactions.

I am one who gets utterly annoyed with the extent of political correctness that is often imposed upon us, but its on an issue like this where that sort of thing makes sense.

I fail to see how words such as 'gay' and 'fag' prove a point that is unattainable by using other words!

Simply because one belongs to the accepted majority does not mean one is in any shape or form superior. If nothing it merely provides an easy opportunity to spinelessly hide behind others.

So props to the initial post, and whether the rest of you guys are serious or joking, you are still jackasses (and no i am not honestly thinking im calling you donkeys, see how that works?!)

ONe shouldn't have to look in a dictionary to know 'gay' and 'stupid' are not synonyms! I would call it a connotation--and a crappy, heartless one at that.

Spyderski: There are several things you've said that I think show us alot about you.

1) I think your explaination of how 'us guys feel offended or brought down by homosexual people' is the biggest pile of bull shit I've read in my entire life. To me this emphasizes your fact that you honor yourself as being representative of the vast majority of others. I don't really know how to say it but I just keep wondering how would I be offended if say I just met a gay guy? What the hell does that even have to do with me, or even my relationship with him? If you ARE offended...cool beans! Cause I do find it humorus that since other's choices, which have nothing to do with you, hurt your feelings, you feel you have the right to ignore their's with the use of these derogatory terms.

2) The fact you thought 'gay' was a synonym for 'stupid' shows...i dont know but i think it says alot!

i really really don't agree with homophobic comments...but society itself is what pushes homophobia into everyone's life, not the newschool ski community. It's nice to think that you can make a difference by trying to convert one or two people to think differently, but the issue itself won't ever be removed by posting it in the new school skiing community's messageboard...
