this is another vehemently anti-gay, pro-"family values" republican, and he gets caught cruising for gay sex.

these people make me sick. the more anti-sex politicians are, the more perverted their private life is. like the louisiana senator caught soliciting the services of a brothel, or mark foley.

sex isn't something incredibly dirty that these religious folks can pretend they don't engage in. we're all just as horny as everyone else. the same politician who preaches family values might very well enjoy fucking a black hooker in the ass from time to time. of course not all of them are like this guy, but these scandals sure do happen a lot, imagine how many don't get caught? I only ask that people don't act like hypocrits.
 
makes sense. i had a homophobic friend, lets call him "Larry". well i wake up one night and larry freaked out cuz he said i was a homo and ran outa the room. i thought it was so odd because when i was sleeping he was the one sucking my cock.
 
That's usually how it ends up. The ones hating are the ones with the insecurities. They feel like it's "their" fault that they're the way they are.

today it seems that if you are homophobic then you are gay, so with that logic, lets apply it to other phobias. how about the acrophobic who commits suicide by jumping off a building or how about the arachnophobic who has a pet spider. or the catoptrophobic that fears mirrors but is at the same time a narcissist. doesn't make sense right? so then why should the original posters logic make any sense.

 
The thread originator is right - this is a common psychological defense mechanism called projection whereby the person "projects" a trait they find personally undesirable onto others and then attacks them for possessing this trait.

Your analogy is not apt. The consistent comparison would be an acrophobic who attacks people who work at great heights as being mentally inferior or an arachnophobe accusing people who like spiders of being morally bankrupt.
 
That's because homophobia(as it is used today) isn't actually a deep rooted fear of homosexuals.

All I can say is the Republicans are quickly digging themselves deeper and deeper into their own graves.

The best was listening to Craig talking yesterday and so vehemently denying that he was gay. Does anyone actually even believe that guy for the slightest second?
 
Who the fuck cares if he's gay? Why is this such a big deal? In the news they talk about how they wanted to investigate his gayness and that it was a big deal that he might be gay. What the fuck is wrong with this country?
 
It's a concern when a politician is so vocally opposed towards same-sex relations and is voting on laws of the country cannot be honest about his own orrientation, especially when it goes DIRECTLY against what he is preaching.
 
True. But politicians lie every day about much worse things than what sexual orientation they prefer. I just find it ridiculous how much our country cares about a republican being homosexual.

On another note, are there any openly gay senators, or other representatives of the sort that anyone knows about?
 
Exactly. I used to have this idea that during the 40s and 50s everyone was really prude, but thats not true. People had affairs, interracial relationships, and had gay sex, they just kept it hidden way better, but the social norms at the time were to act outraged about all that stuff.

Everyone is guilty of projection at some time or another. Its a very natural defense.
 
And when they are caught in those other lies as well, they take shit for it as well.

I looked into this story more and in this case you are definitely right. But I still think people make too big a deal when someone comes out of the closet
