Homeschooling

Does anyone here homeschool? I am thinking about homeschooling next semester (Gr.11) So I can do my schoolwork around skiing. Unfortunately the courses cost 400$ each. Has anyone else done this before and do you think it is worth it?

Honestly I'd say stick with public / regular school.

Homeschooling requires a lot of initiative on your part to keep up with the work, and it will probably have a negative effect on your social circle. I found that Grades 11 and 12 were great for meeting a lot of new friends.

I've thought of doing the same thing now that I'm in university. I played around with the thought of taking a really light course load to get some more time on the hill in, but honestly all it's doing is hurting you.

Personally, I'm just going to finish my undergraduate degree and then spend a season or two ski bumming before joining the real world.

Im kind of thinking I will still take math at school, because I suck at math and will need help, and that way I will stay connected with everyone there. Actually the main problem is getting to the hill. My parents aren't going to want to drive me everyday.

I homeschool and love it... A bunch of my friends homeschool so we all ski whenever we want. Its pretty sick. I do alot of skiing during the day and then my work at night

if homeschooling involves being at the mercy of your parents to no end. think i would throw myself out a window and make sure i landed on my head. I hope you have cool parents

its very easy to ski a lot and go to public school.......also,do any of your friends get homeschooled?if not who would you ski with

ya, i dont see the point. i mean, its not like u dont have to do work. u still have to do alot of school work, and i find it easy enough to ski around public school

I've been homeschooled my whole life and never had a problem. And you should also look up online schools. My friend does that and it's free and he can do it whenever he wants. Also just ask your parents to buy discount textbooks and you can teach yourself. You might want to just try it before actually diving in.

I was homeschooled through highschool because of motocross...I loved it and had opportunities that no one in public school had. Like traveling, making friends from all over the county/world...etc. Public schools are awesome for the friends and ladies but if you are already in highschool chances are you have made enough friends that wont go away just because you dont go to school with them anymore.... My homeschooling was pretty expesive though A-Beka...I think it was around $500 a month.
