i have a friend like that exept he spent his last two years in highschool, his parents are toltal jesus freaks and are fucking up him and his 5 siblings lives, one of thems even retarded... or atistic, all i know is thats karma bitch. basicly his older sister was homeschool and now she has no friends and sits inside and never leaves, shes saving herself fror jesus. the kids normal but his parents make it so hard to be normal. hes basicly on house arrest, and whenever he leaves(like five times a day) i get a phone call askign where he is, his pasrents hate me andwe hate them his littleer brother is gay and his other brother three years younger is normal cause i basicly raised him( hes illnasty at soccer).

MY two cents. i probably offended people.

oh and the dads a drunk. we make fun of him cause his DUI

I'm homeschooled too. I take online classes so my mom doesn't teach me either. I have friends too, only reason I don't go to regular school is because by doing this I can A. ski more and B. I messed up a lot last year and this was my best choice.

i do half of my schooling online at home, the rest at my school, which is a "work at your own pace" school where kids just grab their work and do it without having classes and all that stupid shit.. 'tis dope cause i teach myself and don't have to deal with fucking dumbass teachers all the time.

i was homeschooled for all of grade 7 but my mom didn't teach me it was just me teaching myself, much better than that weird parents teaching you stuff.

i took two classes thru homeschooling last year, I didn't like it much because the program they have set up in my area gives you alot of work and I still had alot of work from my normal classes, so im never doing that again. online classes would be nice tho, id have to take everything online tho.

i only know one person who is homeschooled, and honestly shes a fucking weirdo. she believes in scientology. that should be enough.

i'll try to answer all of your questions

-My mom buys curriculums and text books (there are a ton of different programs to choose from) and at the beginining of the year she says, "this is how much work you have to do this semester, get it done or else" and i read the text book, and do the work, and my my mom...difficult...sometimes so this works really well.

-i'm 15, 16 in nov

-I'm not completely sheltered, i have seen all kinds of crap but i decided that it is stupid.

weed and beer.

it's a status joke

i live in suburban maryland-my town was ranked 16th best to live in the entire nation

we get all kinds of kids riding their parents money, smoking weed, pretending that they are "core" when you live in freaking olney maryland, on brookville lane and your dad drives a mercedes clk and your mom has an X5

my parents have money(how else would i ski....)

but they both drive japanese cars (except for a 1994 GMC suburban that we have had forever) and the only thing they would buy me this year was $50 session parachute pants, 17.99 burton gloves

and then gave me a 350 DOLLAR allowance for ski gear.

that bought me trouble makers, cheap rossi bindings and cheap rossi boots...

oh wow

rant!!!

(raises hand)

but in my defense, when people meet me, and after conversing for a few minutes, (i never bring homeschooling up)(to many assumptions on their part), when asked "where did you go to HS" i dont shy away or lie about the question......

haha i often get, "wow, i would have never guessed you were homeschooled" you are to normal.........

dont judge the whole group based on the actions of a few crazies......

Ha. Same here. I have quite a bit of freedom. I do my work online and then go an do whatever else I want. I went to a regular highschool for my 9th, 10th, and 11th grade years so I have a lot of friends from the highschool I went to. There is a family that I know that is homeschooled. They're highly religious and a little weird, not because of their religion but how they are. There are a lot of kids that go to homeschool and are perfectly normal.

i get "but you're normal" all the time

if you don't believe this then search facebook for aaron agre

i know a ton of really chill homeschoolers

i know a few homeschoolers that dope up every weekend

i know homeschoolers that skate/bmx/snowboard really well

homeschoolers that have gotten pregnant

but i also know homeschoolers who have 12 younger siblings and whose parents attend church 12 times a week

who play 7 classical instruments

speak 3 languages

aren't allowed to talk on the phone or use the internet

and can't date until they are 28 years old

there are alot fewer of those last type

it's stupid to judge all of us based on that small group of "purists"

well it's 1:00 here

i have about 25 minutes of work to do until i'm done

and i am going to go playith my puppy!

^hahahaha but seriously, no hate to the homeschooled, i got a few friends who are homeschooled and even if you dont know anyone whos homeschooled dont judge

he is like the chillest puppy ever

and he likes to pounce at your feet

he will lie somewhere and as soon as your feet stop moving he just POUNCEs

it is aaawwesome

ahahahaha hell ya man i'm homeschooled to and i live in a small town where i no everyone!

the only difference is that i woke up an hour ago

ahahahahaha

Dude, alot of people on here are homeschooled, I am so I can ski everyday. Your kind of close minded aren't you; a ton of people do home schooling

are you joking?

are you calling a homeschooler close minded?

why would i ask a question if i already new the answer

of course there are other homeschoolers on this site.

whose closeminded now?

get back in the kitchen!!!

=))))

Well the begging of the thread you asked if you were the only homeschooler, I really didn't read all of it because I'm tired and just took finals. Do you do your school online?

Ugh thats shitty, I do all of my work online, i used to do it with a dif program called k12, never do it, its shitty.

Kids don't think I go to school they think I'm a drop out, so no one ever really thinks im odd because i get homeschooled they just think i do alot of drugs haha

i know a couple homeschooled kid, but their familys also christian, and i'm pretty judgemental - they have like no social skills whatsoever and can't accept the opinions of others.

but you can't be the only homeschooled kid on the site

you sound very socially aware, and you have parents who know what's up, in terms of not spoiling kids to shit

i am most freaking definitely not spoiled

except by my grandmother

who gives me $50 dollars on my brithday and sometimes the occasional twenty

i know a kid whos homeschooled hes mad chill and just does art and goes to mexico for half the year. mad respeck

o yeah, i have tons of friends, haha but dont facebook me, i only use that dump pice of shit, to keep in touch with people i rarely see... I HATE FACEBOOK.....

but yeah, totally agree, there are sooooo many assumptions that are JUST PLANE WRONG about homeschooling....

there are the nuts out there, but the vast majority of us are normal......

do people in normal school walk around outside without a shirt on? they certainly do in vermont but suburban maryland it seems a little out of place...

i know a kid that was homeschooled until highschool. he knew some kids from the neighborhood and always played baseball. he was pretty quiet at first, but once he found the right group of friends, he fit in just fine. ended up a regular highschool kid, drank but didnt smoke, and had a lot of fun. and he wasnt real nerdy, but not dumb either. never woulda guessed if u didnt know him.

haha. i love how you call yourself a homeschooler. you aren't homeschooled. you are a homeschooler. but, from the sound of it, it sounds like you are screwed.

dude two of my best friends were home schooled and have since moved on to their respective institutions of higher education, and they are sick they slay it snowboarding, rip it at wakeboarding and party like its 1999.

just because you have met some crazy home schooled nuts doesn't mean every single home schoolers is a wacky bird, and beleive me i have met some messed up home schoolers. like this one kid totally that it was normal to pick his nose and proced to eat it while ripping ass in a public situation, and not like a crowded mall where it could be blamed on someone else, he literally lifted one cheek and ripped ass on a plastic chair in a group setting.

it must be dope for you HS'ers cuz skiing must be really convenient. just work hard 3 days a week then play hard

i went to public school when i lived in california (until i was 9)

then one year here in MD (at a freaking trash school, ONLY elementary school in the county without a "blue ribbon award of excellence)

and since then, homeschooling

i like it

because i hate doing the work

the only things i really like are playing guitar and skiing (in that order)

sleeping in is nice too

but the point is

being able to go at my own pace and 5 hour school days,no homework, just works for me

Sounds like my town. We were the richest county in 2001. Everyone at my school drives a new car, except me. Everyone acts core and rolls and smokes and drinks and what-not. And similar to you, my parents are cheap ass shit. We buy whatever is cheapest, My dad paid $9,000 for his '08 cobalt, I inherited his previous and even shittier cavalier, but it wheels and I like the feeling of knowing im not going to be a stuck up prick like most of the people around me (don't get me wrong I like taking free shoes whenever im at a friends house along with some great food; fruit snacks ftw)

would you rather me type like this thats how most people on this forum type i find it hard to follow maybe it is easier for you because it confuses me alot i did 2 math lessons in 15 minutes today all i have left is spanish and that should take half an hour tops but i really want to go skiing

haha right now I'm in bed in my pajamas because I do correspondance. I get school credit for piano, guitar, and skiing, AND I am not required to attend my 3 classes at regular highschool is I don't feel well. Today's excuse: Geometry is boring and easy, so I'm staying home. Yippeeeeee

that sounds like a dream set up you've got there. My only major concern with home schooling would be that it doesn't quite prepare for the "real world". I mean yes, you get all the same credits and basically the same education, but, what school also does is prepare you to be able to meet deadlines, wake up early when you have to, manage a workload that is too large and be able to fit all your other activities into your schedule. Most of the time, the world won't move at "your pace" and that's something that can't be learned by staying at home. IMO.

I was homeschooled from 2nd - 8th grade.

I definetly don't regret it, especially growing up in new england.

Facts:

I made friends

I got to experience everythiing I was interested in, all the time

I didn't fall behind, even though I rarely did bookwork

I was young enough (2nd - 6th grade) I didn't mind not meeting girls, in 6th I started hanging out with neighboors / locals more

When I went into 8th grade it was a case of shellshock. I made more friends, didn't keep them all, but it was an experience.

Right now I'm in 11th grade (public for 4 years) and here's some stuff:

My two best friends are kids I met outside of school, who went to school.

I have more developed interests than most of my peers (they all just do sports and homework. BORING)

I think it's good to experience both, they both def have their good and bad points.

However, if you are homeschooled. DONT USE THE INTERNETS. Join a school sports team, yes you still can even if you don't go there.

haha your picture didn;t work, but somehow the point camr through pretty clearly.

And I knew a homeschooled kid once. He was cool.

this isn't always true, some schools won't let you join if you don't attend. It all just depends on where you live.

i was homeschooled from 2nd grade up through 10th. I had tons of friends and the only reason i switched to public schooling for the last 2 years of high school was to help me meet friends after i moved to South Carolina.

And yes, the best part of being homeschooled was skiing mid week before 4 pm. No liftlines.. EVER.

in addition to that i feel that homeschooling did allow me to develop who i was without depending on the people around me.

on the downside, i despise spending anytime at all at home. I've just gotten sick of it.

exactly....

i find when plunged into new situations, WE (as homeschoolers) adapt, just as quick, if not quicker... i am not dependent on having a group of friends around me...

o yeah, for all you suckers out there, i took every friday off to ski YAY! so i skied Fri, Sat, and Sun... every week! and usually one weeknight...

i also agree, sports teams ARE GREAT... also, no school should deny you being on a sports team. i dont think they legally can? (atleast in MN)

get out there and meet people! i get around just as well as anyone....
